For the second time in a week, the Bears have beaten the 12th ranked Razorbacks. Tonight completing the trick 4-2.
Jake Shafer went 6 strong innings, not allowing a run.
Nolan Keane hits a late 3-run bomb to give the Bears a 4-1 lead and the Bears held on for the win 4-2, while never trailing in the series with the Hogs.
Bears have now won 9 of their last ten games.:bears:

I actually like Arkansas. I'd like to keep playing them in everything and make it a nice local rivalry. They have sweet facilites down there. After losing to them in football and hoops already, it feels good to sweep them in baseball.

I'd like to keep playing them in baseball and basketball. Football, I'd like to play some D1 teams we match up better with. (OT w/OK St. etc shows we could at least compete with the right team)
They'll always have too many athletes and too much speed to have much of a real chance at the upset in football at Arkansas. This last recruiting class they had was outstanding.
Attendance was pretty good. I believe there was around 3k there, which is good for college baseball.

It was 2,521 i think thats what I heard. Not bad for a tuesday night that was windy and a little chilly.
GO Bears Go get some Shoxs this weekend. You know they'll be ready for you. So bring the A game.

The Shox haven't been "ready" for anybody (at the plate) in about three weeks, so unless something changes between now and then, you have nothing to worry about. It doesn't matter who the Shox lineup against. MSU could role coach Guttin out on the mound and he would probably throw a no-hitter.

The Shox are just 4-9 over their last 13 games, after starting the season 20-3.
The red hot bears may be getting us at a good time. Hopefully the Shox will find their bats this weekend.
I suspect that it will be a very good series.

Despite the Shox worthless hitting over the last 13 games, and having lost 9 of the last 13, 4,000+ people showed up last night. These fans deserve better than this, I am sorry, but that is how I feel.

The Bears haven't been tearing the cover off the ball either, I would suspect Shafer Vs. Sinbeil could be one of the best pitching matchups in college baseball this weekend.

Except it won't happen unless Sinkbeil is pitching Sunday. Travis Banwart (5-3, 2.38 ERA, 41 K's, 10 BB's) is the Friday starter, Rob Musgrave (4-2, 2.36 ERA, 36 K's, 13 BB's) is the Saturday starter, and Shafer (6-1, 1.90 ERA, 35 K's, 9 BB's) is the Sunday guy.

The Shocker pitching staff's numbers are very impressive and we will be lucky to score many runs with our offense. Isn't the Sunday game on ESPNU?
Brett Sinkbeil 4-1 1.89 ERA 58 k's 11 bb's .179 B/Ave against
Scott Carroll 3-2 3.02 ERA 40 k's 15 bb's .252 B/Ave against
Ross Detwiler 3-1 3.89 ERA 47 k's 17 bb's .242 B/Ave against

Shox have lost 9 of the last 13, Shox are batting .198 in their last 10 games, Shox have just 11 extra base hits in their last 10 games, Shox have struck out 63 times and walked just 30 times in their last 10 games, Shox are averaging 2.3 runs per game and giving up 3.5 runs per game in the their last 10 games.
I like MSU's chances this weekend. It sucks to say that, but at this point, the truth hurts.

Thanks for the info, that's a nice looking pitching staff you have there.
I fully expect the Bears to have a hard time winning 2 out of 3 and certainly don't expect a sweep. The Shox have hit a lull for sure, but they still have a ton of talent on that team.
