Boyd Nation in his latest column has compiled stats on every division 1 baseball team over the last five years (2002-2006).

He then printed his top 10 lists in each category.

The Shox are in the top 10 in eight categories.

What surprises me is that they are not all pitching categories.

The Shox ranked 5th in total hits in the last five years (a big surprise), 7th in walks, 3rd in Stolen bases and 2nd in Stolen base attempts.

In the pitching categories, the Shox ranked 4th in Saves, 6th in Strike outs, 3rd in Shut outs and 4th in team ERA.

Not too shabby "for a team on the decline" .:shockers:

Oh by the way I didn't see the "new kings of the Valley" listed in the top 10 of anything. :valley:

Maybe my eyes missed it.

The "team on decline" you quote, has been posted by your own fans numerous times.

If there was a category for failing to capitalize on the Sweet 16 in basketball and the CWS in baseball, MSU would be #1.

How about longest losing streaks to a conference opponent.

The Bears would probably be in the top 10 of that one too.:valley: :shockers: :bears:
