Shox get a 7-3 victory over kstate (23-10-1) last night in front of 5,600+ at the Eck on a windy, chilly spring evening. Matt Brown was excellent in the field and at the plate, where he went 4-4 with 3 doubles. He also made some great catches in the field. But, it was the catch that he didn't make that was the most spectacular. He almost carbon copied his ESPY nominated catch from last year by leaping over the wall to catch a fould ball. He came within a few inches of making the catch.

The Shox notched 7 runs on 14 hits. Tyler Hill was 3-4, including a triple off the outfield wall that plated 2 Shockers. Brandon Hall broke an 0-15 streak by going 2-3 with 2 RBI's.

Kris Johnson picked up the victory and improved to 4-0 on the season. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 2 unearned runs on 2 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1. Noah Booth also pitched an 1 2/3, giving up no hits and no runs.

Not much to add there.

In the field, Damon wasn't himself. Noah Krol was (unfortunately).

Kitties were neutered last night, with 2 of their 4 hits coming on bunts in the 3rd inning.

It was amazing to watch Brownie hurdle the short wall in RF foul territory. I didn't think he had a chance as the ball was 10 feet beyond the fence, but he dang near caught it. What an amazing kid.

I'm sure Gene's heart stopped for a second.

I enjoyed this quote from Gene in the paper today about Brownie:

"I don't try to tell him anything," Stephenson said. "He goes after every ball like (former Shocker) Carl Hall used to; like it's the last piece of meat on the planet. I love it."

CLASSIC Gene!!

"....going after the last piece of meat on the planet." I love it, sound like something Charlie Sheen would say.

I think we need to put some matress pads on the other side of that fence.
