In the interest of keeping the boards more enjoyable for all, the VT administrators have compiled the following list of guidelines for the boards. Please take a moment to review this thread.
The moderators may edit or delete any posts that violate the board’s guidelines, and it will be the moderators’ judgment as to when the guidelines have been violated. Repeated and/or severe violations may result in the loss of posting privileges.<!--EZCODE BOLD END-->
1. Personal attacks on other posters will not be tolerated. Some mild ribbing is OK, within the context of a thread. Calling somebody an “inbred, trailer-trash hick” is not. It will be up to the moderators to determine when a post has crossed the line.
2. Starting a new thread with the express purpose of slamming another poster, another school, or another school’s city will not be allowed.
3. If a thread has been locked by the moderators, any new threads that attempt to continue the part of the discussion that caused the previous thread to be locked will be deleted.
4. Posting of any personal information about another poster that he/she has not previously posted on the board will not be tolerated. Posting of things that you know to be false will not be allowed. If you want to start a vicious rumor about a coach, a player, or another poster, this is not the place to do it.
5. Keep posts on topic. Posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the thread they’re posted in will be deleted, no matter how funny you might find them to be.
6. Profanity will not be tolerated. It is very likely that there are younger-age fans reading these boards. Keep it clean. That includes pictures and links.
7. Post new threads on the appropriate board. It is not OK to post your off-topic thread on the basketball board just because “more people will see it there.”
8. Do not constantly post disparaging remarks about players, coaches, schools, or other ValleyTalk members.
9. Do not post negative information about a player, coach, or school that cannot be corroborated by an official source of some kind.
10. Players, coaches, and teams are fair game for constructive criticism. Family members of the players and coaches are not. Ridiculing of family members will not be tolerated.
11. There will be no posting of premium content from other sites. Even if another site is free, you should not cut and paste an entire article from that site. Instead, please provide a link to the full article. It is OK to include brief quotes from the article in your post, just not the entire article.
12. No racial, ethnic, or religious slams will be tolerated.
13. You may not post anything that is commercial in nature or any links to commercial/retail sites. ValleyTalk is not a site to place your advertisements.
14. Before starting a new thread, please be certain that there isn’t already an existing thread on the subject. We don’t need 3-4 threads linking to the same ESPN article about the MVC.
15. The moderators cannot be on the board 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore, objectionable or offensive posts may not be removed immediately. If you see an offensive post, you may report it by posting a message in the "Comments to ValleyTalk Staff" forum. If you respond to a post that is likely to be deleted, it is quite likely that your post will be deleted as well, especially if you have quoted the other post. It is best not to respond to those posts at all.
16. If you have a question as to why a moderator edited or deleted a post or a thread, do not take it up with the moderators on the board. Any posts questioning the moderation of the board will be deleted. You may send a ‘PM’ (using the ezInbox) to one of the moderators to inquire as to the reason(s).
17. <!--EZCODE ITALIC START-->Finally, this is not a government-run forum, nor does it receive any public funds. As such, your 1st Amendment rights are not protected here. Cries of censorship will fall on deaf ears. If you're looking for an internet pulpit, you are free to start your own website.<!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->
