Creighton [19-8 (12-6), RPI: 30, SOS: 58] Bluejays were tripped by the two hottest teams in the Valley this past week and now they'll have a long eight days to wait and see. Overall profile says they should be there, but it's hard enough to even know who they should root for in the SIU-UNI game, let alone what else will happen around the nation. Best thing for Jays fans to do is root for Bucknell, Gonzaga and GW to win their auto bids and not squeeze the at-large pool.
Missouri State [20-7 (12-6), RPI: 18, SOS: 35] I think the Bears are going to be one of the odd teams out after falling to Northern Iowa in the MVC quarters. Good computer numbers but too many teams ahead of them in the pecking order right now. The Creighton loss didn't help matters -- would Mo State even be ahead of the Bluejays? The two tied for second and split head-to-head.
Northern Iowa [20-8 (11-7), RPI: 27, SOS: 41] Lock-down D stifled Missouri State in the MVC quarters and gets Northern back onto the good side of the bubble. A semifinal revenge W over So, Illinois should be enough to get the Panthers dancing. As is, they may have done enough.
Southern Illinois [19-9 (12-6), RPI: 44, SOS: 68] Salukis did what they were supposed to against Evansville to set up a huge rematch with Northern Iowa just a week after Tony Young's runner beat the Panthers. A win Saturday night should be enough for a bid -- I can't see the two MVC finalists not getting in.
Bradley [18-9 (11-7), RPI: 46, SOS: 72] The Braves look like they're trying to remove any doubt that they are a Tournament team. Now with 20 wins, a semifinal W over Wichita State likely would get Bradley there. As it is, they have a very legit case. Like San Diego State, the committee will have to evaluate the Braves with Patrick O'Bryant. Braves are 7-5 vs. RPI Top 50.
