Coach Guttin said on sports talk this evening that he had a touch of food poisoning. Also that he should be ok.

In the 2nd inning Sink kind of grabbed his stomach/side and then motioned for the coaches to come out. Coach Guttin quickly got him out and then Sink headed back to the clubhouse with the team trainer. He came back after about 45 minutes and stayed in the dugout.

Powell started for SIU gave up 6 runs on 7 hits and then Snyder came in giving up 4 runs on 5 hits

Bears out hit Dogs 12-9

Quite the pitchers duel.

I hope that Sinkbell is okay. He is a very good pitcher, I would hate to see his season end early.

Coach Guttin said on sports talk this evening that he had a touch of food poisoning.

He might have accidentally eaten some rotten food that fell off of Coach Evans stomach.

It helps attendance if they don't have to play in the morning on a work day. :valley:

That is still a pretty empty stadium, but at least it is twice as many fans as the day before.

At that number they may have been close to at least paying the rent for that day.:naughty: :valley:

I love how shox fans care more than the bear fans do.
We know we aren't a good team. No one ever said we were. We know how pathetic our program has been since the CWS. WE KNOW.

Game 3
Dogs - 9
Bears - 2

Bears continue to knock the cover off the ball...NOT!

People chose church and lunch instead of coming to the game...not idea how many but not very many.

No idea how we could compete year in and year out playing in Meador Park and Price Cutter and now we struggle to make the Valley Tournament playing in such a nice park. VERY VERY FRUSTRATING for this fan who has watched Bear's baseball since the 80's.

It's time for Guttin to go. He's hit the wall and done nothing since the CWS, especially with the new building.

Oops, there are those silly "expectations" again. My bad.

missouri state rules baseball

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

well I looked into the standings and saw the baseball bears are on top.

No real surprise there. Since the hammons field recruits are now on the field I suspect the bears will rule from here on out!!

One fan who is/was banned from our fan board doesn't speak for the Bear nation.

I thought we would be much better this year and use the 11 game winning streak as something to build one BUT we can't hit the ball and our pitching has left the building.

I would like to know who isnt banned from that POS board.

Barry has bass pro boy by the short and curlies and it you say anything halfway bad about barry you are off.

To wichita fans.....

99.99% of what I say is BS. You know that so quit trying to manipulate the less intelligent bear fans with it. They are easily fooled and it isnt really fair to them.

Too bad the rain couldn't have lasted a bit longer in Springfield today.

There are 1400 posters who read and post on the board so I guess we can start there.

I realize what you say is BS and I am sure the Shocker nation realizes it also but that doesn't make it right. It reminds me of some students at the baseball game this weekend who kept mouthing SIU players as they came to the plate even though they were kicking our a##.

Outpost it wouldn't of mattered if snow came because we couldn't hit the ball before the rain and we couldn't hit it after.

TNMSUFAN -

Well, all I can offer is good luck against Bradley next weekend. They might be the cure for your ills if and when you can get into their bullpen.

Thanks Outpost!

I really thought our pitching would keep us in games but Carroll and Detwiler haven't got it done the last couple of weekends.

I haven't looked at the stats but SIU's outfield made some GREAT plays this weekend. I know yesterday they saved at least 4 runs with diving catches or jumping up catching balls off the wall and today the CF saved at least 3 runs with similar plays.

Yeah, I listened to the 7th inning on last night. Cadematori was unbelievable out there, taking would-be hits away.

I honestly didn't see anything wrong with MSU's bats. Not in Wichita, not even in Lawrence on Tuesday night. And a 10-6 win on Friday doesn't reinforce anyone's theory that MSU is in a hitting slump.

They were just victims of some great defense, at least last night.

Outpost the problem is our LF is batting .248 0 HR 8 RBI, SS batting .244 0 HR 13 RBI, and 1B .246 2 HR 18 RBI...that is SR, JR, and SR not getting it done at the plate. If your SS and 1B can't hit any better than that you just can't win a lot of games. Currently our best 3 hitters are a frosh and 2 soph.

So these players are part of the group that will go down in history, known as "The Hammons Field Class", due to the fact they had always dreamed of playing in a rented facility? Will this be the class that returns MSU to the glory days of winning 40 games a season?

SIU is a team to keep an eye on. They have now won series at Wichita and at Springfield.

TNMSUFAN

iSASO - Not really, the SR's were on the college world series team and recruited to play in Price Cutter. The JR is a juco player that the Bear's took a chance on even though they never saw him play in person. We have some very good frosh and soph players and next year's class is even better but it is very frustrating it has taken this long to get good players.
