Here's the important part for the lazy:
"Bradley University previously removed all Native American imagery associated with its athletics programs and only kept the generic nickname “Braves.” Based on information contained in Bradley’s appeal, the Executive Committee found Bradley demonstrated its ability to provide an environment that is not hostile or abusive and one that is consistent with the NCAA constitution and commitment to diversity, respect and sportsmanship. Bradley will be placed on a watch list for five years, during which time the NCAA will work with the school to assure that circumstances do not change. Bradley is allowed to fully participate in and host NCAA championships without restrictions."

Is the NCAA's company softball team nickname the "Overly PC Ignoranmous Dorks"?
Congrats, BU, on what should have been a non-issue from the beginning.

Blahhhhhh, blahhhhh.
That was me puking.
When was the environment ever hostile or abusive to begin with? What does "diversity" have to do with a logo? The word "diversity" is a crock of s*** they're trying to sell us and it's getting old. I hate that word.

Thank goodness the word "Braves" is no longer hostile and abusive.
The NCAA: "Ready, Fire, Aim!"

I totally agree with your sentiments. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater, though. I don't mind "diversity" as long as it means diversity of IDEAS. In other words, no "thought police" allowed. It's amazing how the thought police on both extremes just talk past one another. On the left, "You must never offend anyone, no matter how hypersensitive he/she/it might be!" On the right, "You must never say anything un-American/un-religious/un-whatever!"
I'm dogmatically against dogma. And yes, I see the problem there. I'm also an extreme moderate. I'm utterly confident that I should be confidently sure of nothing.
At any rate, the thought police lost on this one. That's because the diversity of ideas won out, while the PC version of diversity you accurately describe went down, for once.

My sentiments exactly. Political correctness is a form of psychological fascism aimed at suppressing the free marketplace of ideas.
If somebody disagrees with an idea, they should feel free to disagree with it. It's the coercion aspect I have a problem with....
