Bradley has done so well over the last few weeks, but they have GOT to stop missing dunks! What is with this team sometimes?!
WSU up 10-6 with 12:19 to go in the first half.

Wow- the refs are really letting them bang inside. Then they call some poor slappy fouls on the perimeter.
Like Turgeon said, this is a great college basketball game. Now if only somebody could make a shot.

ugh...good for the valley i guess...and I know I shouldn't worry about wsu getting in, but i don't believe anything til i see it. and now we'll get an 8 seed and get creamed by duke. but good for bradley, they should get in now if there's any justice. lets just hope it doesn't come at the expense of CU or SIU or something.

CBS, here we come!!!! :D :D :D
As I said before, I never wanted him fired, but it wouldn't shock me if someone on one of the Bradley boards still finds some excuse (ie:fluke season, let's see Les do this again next year, he's still learning, etc.). Puhleeze!

You guys are in! Don't worry about it. If the regular season conference champion from the #6 conference gets passed over, we might as well step down to D-II or D-III right now! ;)

Congratulations to Jim Les and the Braves.

Wow! What a frightening group of individuals from Peoria!! Where was this group of defending, rebounding, shot-blocking monsters earlier in the year??!! The Shox gave a great effort and I think one of their top-3 all around best efforts of the season against the Braves and just couldn't close the deal. We missed some shots but our fire, heart, and intensity was there in full force. Why can't we have a Patrick O'bryant??? It's not fair!!! :( :( :(
Shox are sitting pretty and probably looking at a 6-7 seed in the NCAA's. If there was any team that I would like to see us lose to and help into the tournament it would be Bradley. I would usually say Creighton as well considering they make up the "holy trinity" of the Valley (WSU, Creighton, Bradley), but after their players came into our building and "tried" to disrespect us by pointing at our NIT banners (I guess they missed the Final Four and Elite Eight NCAA banners), I would be quite amused watching them eat crow while enjoying a little NIT isolation.

Great game by both teams. WSU played 40 minutes of hard-nose basketball, as we all knew they would, and never went away.
Hopefully will meet up again LATE in the tourney!!!

the "holy trinity" of the Valley (WSU, Creighton, Bradley)
that may be the most inane characterization ever on valley talk. take out creighton and you guys could be the underachieving and NIT trinity.

Oh shucks.. that's right. The MVC was founded in 1995 right? Do your homework son! When you are finished answer me this question, what periods during the last 100 years was the Valley at it's greatest strength. What primarily schools still in the Valley where leading the conference at those times. After you run out of ambition and give up because your mind is undisciplined and uneducated consider this hint: One of the teams you are looking for recently won the Valley Championship during one of the Valley's overall strongest seasons from top to bottom.

It's too bad there wasn't a 65-team field back in the 60's. Many a good/great MVC team got left home because the NCAA was only a 25-team field and only conference champions got to play in it. Only the ACC had a post-season tournament to crown its champion. The regular season champs got into the field. The NIT, which was arguably as prestigious as the NCAA throughout the 50's, only took 16 teams in its tournament, with all teams playing at Madison Square Garden. The NIT committee had a knack for taking some teams that weren't even in D-1. SIU won the event in 1967 (beat BYU in the finals, as I remember). Maryland-Eastern Shore also competed in 1973 (went in with a 25-1 record as the MEAC did not have an automatic bid into the NCAA's at that time). Granted, there are probably twice as many schools playing D-1 hoops now than there were in 1970. Funny, the only Valley schools remaining from that year are Bradley, Wichita State, and Drake. Teams that were in the league that year included: Louisville & Cincinnati (Big East), St. Louis (Atlantic 10), Memphis & Tulsa (Conference USA), and North Texas (Sun Belt). Then, as now, there were no nights off for home and road teams--every night was a war! For teams that are now in the league, Southern Illinois, Illinois State and Indiana State were just breaking into Division 1. Northern Iowa, Evansville, and Missouri State were still in Division 2. Creighton was in Division 1 playing as an Independent.

I'm right there with you! B/c by this line of thinking, Evansville's the greatest team in the league b/c of the Division II championships we won 30-40 years ago, back when Division II really meant something! Sycamore fans have the true bragging rights b/c they're the last Valley team to make the Final Four!
UCLA has more national championships than any school in history, therefore, they are the #1 program in college basketball, forget Duke!
Saying WSU is part of the "holy trinity" of the Valley is a joke. Win a game in the tournament (the one you're apparently resting up for by choice, per your post on the UNI-SIU thread, right?), until then, [phrase removed by adminstrator]. The only schools that can legitimately claim to be the class of the Valley in the last decade are Creighton & SIU.

Congrats to the Shockers on a great season and a great game today. What a great game to watch from both sides. Both teams hustled and played their guts out, and Bradley just made a couple of huge plays down the stretch. The Tony Bennet three was so clutch. Bradley had Tony Bennet and Lawrence Wright step up yesterday against Creighton, and then O'Bryant and Sommerville stepped it up big time today, both registering double doubles.
Good luck to Wichita in the Big Dance. I know it's not fun losing, but this probably helped the conference more for getting some more teams in the dance.

Wait a second I'm confused. If it was 20 years ago thats "in the past" but any in the last decade counts. If you want to exclude history then lets live in the present, WSU is the current MVC champ!!!!!!!! CU on the other hand has taken over as official sponsor of the NIT. I don't want to hear anything about last year or before because it doesn't count. BTW division II never meant anything.

You are absolutely right.. Of course, that's easy for me to say, seeing as how my horse was never really in the race..... Damn, it's easy to get sucked into the pointless garbage talk around here!
I just want to see somebody make it to the 2nd weekend. I must say, if we get 5 or 6 teams in, and all are out in the 1st 2 rounds, we can already hear all the "See, they're not a REAL conference!" crap coming from all the smug BCS fans....

It's never a shame or an embarrassment to get beat by a better team.
On Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 1:05 PM to approximately 3:05 PM, Bradley was a better team than WSU.
WSU's worst 3 losses of the season based on RPI are to Creighton and the 2 teams in the finals of Arch Madness.
Bradley earned the right to play for the tourney championship by being the better team on the court. Bradley deserves that right and should be respected for beating a team that has a total of one loss outside the top-40 RPI. That loss was to Creighton in Omaha, and their #41 RPI.
There is no humiliation, shame, embarrassment or meltdown in ShockerNation.
If there is a team I don't mind losing to it's Bradley. WSU vs. Bradley is old school and Bradley gives us a team in the dance that can win in the first round.
Congratulations to Jim Les and the Braves.

Oh i agree totally with you. You have one of the hottest teams in the NATION right now. Like I said in another thread, I believe any Valley team could make some noise. To say that BU and WSU are the only teams in the Valley equiped to make waves is ludicrous. I also believe recent history has alot to do with it. SIU has several players that have won in THE DANCE, and have been in that situation and can handle that pressure.
