I'm going out on a limb that the VT love will slowly creep back in until about mid/late December when Valley play begins. Then business as usual. Think of the summer as pre-game posturing.

Might be fun and interesting to know this........direct from Merriam-Webster.
Piqued - to be excited or aroused especially by a provocation, challenge, or rebuff.

I think it has.
It only rents its domain.
It hasn't made it to the Sweet 16 of message boards.
It hasn't got "consistently better every year".

A few days after the Valley's season ended in the Sweet 16, I uttered these prophetic words: "It's going to be an awesome summer."
The year spiteful MVC fans dreaded - The Year of Wichita State, The Summer of The Shockers!
WSU fans powering their way into the paint for the dunk.
CU and SIU fans trying to box-out the WSU fans, trying to keep them out of that key inside position on the block.
MSU fans still crowing about being...good free throw shooters.
Bradley fans sitting on the sidelines sucking the oxygen tanks dry.

The polls that ranked leagues and ran through the Tourney put the MVC at the #5 league. 2 teams in the S16.
At the beginning of last season if someone had proposed that the Valley would be the 5th ranked conference and put 2 teams in the S16 - I don't think they would have been taken seriously. The first posts suggesting 4 Tourney bids were pretty much laughed at or ridiculed. Then the possibility of 5 Tourney teams became real. Except for MSU getting hosed, the Valley would have had 5 teams in the Tourney.
The Valley teams that made the S16 were pre-season mid-level picks in the Valley. The perennial powerhouses were either in the NIT or one-and-done in the Tourney. The "new kids on the block" made S16 runs. That kind of upset the apple cart and altered the established pecking order. It did not bring peace and harmony to ValleyTalk.
WSU and CU fans have never gotten along - particularly 2 or 3 from each school. When WSU played CU in Omaha the Qwest was filled with "WSU - NIT Sponsor" signs. That really irritated WSU fans. When CU ended up in the NIT several WSU fans thought it was payback time.
The Valley is a strong conference and is strong deeper than most BCS conferences. Any fan who takes pride in some perceived pecking order is going to be in for a surprise more often than not in the current version of the Valley.
I think WSU is in the process of joining the "Tourney every year" teams in the Valley. I think CU is the likely designated candidate for the Valley's S16 team next year. I think MSU is the Valley's likely candidate for 4 Tourney bids. MSU could be the league champ and winner of Arch Madness.
Then there's UNI and DU, who are both in positions similar to BU and WSU at the start of last season.

Yeah, it has peaked, an inverted peak that is. Otherwise known as the bottom of the barrel.
