Just saw TSN's rankings for the Gateway....they have:

1. IL ST
2. UNI
3. YSU
4. SIU
5. WKU
6. WIU
7. MSU
8. IN ST

Think that the Bears may suprise by season's end. It's going to be a heck of a season for the Gateway. YES!! :original:

Our 5th and 6th place teams could win most conferences in I-AA.

Compare it to the preseason poll conducted among league coaches, media and sports information directors.

1. UNI (22) ... 239
2. Youngstown State (7)... 208
3. Illinois State (2)... 190
4. Southern Illinois ... 160
5. Western Kentucky (1)... 141
6. Western Illinois ... 103
7. Missouri State ... 79
8. Indiana State... 32

The only difference seems to be that they bumped the Redbirds up to the top slot. It looks like they read the Gateway preseason poll (http://www.gatewayfootball.org/webapps/release?id=1482) and changed one team to make it look like some original thought was involved.
