According to an article in the Colorado Springs Gazette, the first two days of the NCAA Tournament on CBS was the highest-rated since 1997.
The Thursday-Friday coverage averaged a 5.0 rating with a 12 share. In 1997, those two days posted a 5.2 with a 13 share.
The 2006 results are 4% higher than last years 4.8 with a 11 share.
Each rating point represents about 735,000 homes.

Obviously that bump is completely due to the onslaught of viewers that is the ShockerNation.
There can be no other explanation.

God help you if you read the Gazette for news. It makes the Wichita Eagle look like the New York Times.

What was each teams take and does that filter down to other members of the conference?

I do think that this shows that people are more interested in seeing quality teams out of the Valley and like conferences take down BCS teams than watch the 7th place Big East team lose to another Big East team as though it is the Big East Conference tourney rather than the NCAAs.

I don't read it, but a bunch of my in-laws do. They had a sweet picture of WSU on the front page of the sports section after the Tennessee game so they sent me a copy. Actually, there were several days worth of WSU items in their paper.

Madhatter, think you are right on about spreading the wealth around. It seems like last year was pretty wide open with quality teams from many different conferences. Hope the NCAA committee continues to recognize that there is some pretty good b-ball being played in the conferences just outside of the BCS boys. :original:
