Where does your team struggle the most on the ole Valley road?

Bears1....hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of adding Bradley and UNI to your poll.
It's tough not to pick SIU right now.

Although it wasn't on the list, I should note that another toughest place for WSU to play on the road seems to be in St. Louis, in the tourney semifinals.
This year, maybe it won't be "on the road"......

It has to be SIU for every team.(Except Indiana State).

I voted for SIU, but I think I speak for all visiting teams when I say the old UNI dome was kind of a bummer to play in and we're really looking forward to playing in a basketball venue. :innocent:

Should UNI be on the poll since no one has played in their new arena yet?

There are a number of tough road trips, but right now SIU has to be at the top of the list.

Actually, the UNI dump was one place where CU didn't have trouble in the past few years. Except for the game during Korver's senior season, WSU hasn't been that bad, either - with just the last second loss this year. SIU has been a problem and MSU also has been a very difficult place for CU to play well.

Thought we'd lead this poll. :salukis:

Due to the concentration of WSU fans here, SIU should win this one going away, now that UNI is getting their new arena.

I think most Saluki fans will agree the toughest place for SIU on the road in the Valley is the Hammons Center. Man, Missouri State always is jacked to play the Salukis at home and rarely does SIU come out of there with a win.
It gets loud and Barry always plays to the crowd and before you know it, Missouri State looks like an NCAA tournament team. Of course, Wichita comes to town four nights later and ***** slaps the Bears.

WSU is probably getting a lot of the SIU vote, since you can't pick your own school (based on how the poll question is worded).

Exactly - how could anyone NOT pick SIU?

Who the hell picked Illinois State???
Probably someone who remembered watching his team play there all throughout the 90s (and maybe even as recently as '01) when Redbird Arena was a very tough place for anybody in the MVC (or any other league) to play at. In recent years our program has been in such a state of flux that the crowds havent been consistent. (and last season we hit rock bottom attendance-wise, with only a handful of games with any real good atmosphere). We're workin on changing all that of course, but we have to win to help that happen.
But back in the day, Redbird Arena was never easy for anyone to play at.

Horton Field House.

Horton was an absolute madhouse and that atmosphere carried right over into Redbird Arena. Plus, obviously having the team be good or great every year in the 90s (except '91) helped too. :original:

I'd have to say that the what-the-hay factor is higher in the lone Drake vote.

Thought we'd lead this poll. :salukis:
The Dawgs are 66-3 at home over the last 5 years. That could be a factor. I think CU has about an 80% winning percentage at home over the same period. I would have thought they might get some votes.

Wow.
I think the ratios of this poll may actually reflect some truth.
SIU
WSU
CU
I think most can agree on that order.:valley:

This is why I am extremely excited that SIU has plans to renovate their arena. Maybe it just won't be the same...

It might not be that bad if most people try to keep it on the Smack board. That way you can have conversation in one place or go mix it up if that is all you are looking for.

This one is an open/shut case. SIU's home record the last 5-6 years speaks for itself.

So, if you answer the question "Where does your team struggle the most on the ole Valley road?", how did Saluki fans vote?
I see 2 votes for MSU and 8 for Creighton. Maybe they're not voting at all...surely they're not voting for themselves.

Actually I voted WSU after thinking I should have probably voted MSU but I do have to admit Wichita is loud.

They must have thought this was for the 2006-2007 season.
