Looks like Indiana State sophomore Jay Tunnell could miss some time early in the season.

That's a total bummer.

InSt was a bit thin. Losing Tunnell for any part of the season is bad news for a team that needed good news.

I hope Waltman considers a medical RS. Coming back in December means Tunnell won't be at full strength all season. That's not the way medical RS's are supposed to work, but find a way.

Altman found a way. If Waltman can, then it's blow off this season and work on next season. Sad to say, but that could be InSt's best option.

I was able to visit with his father last year at the conference tourney. Very nice solid person. I am sure his son is too and I wish him a speedy recovery.

I hope Jay recovers quickly.

Every impression I've ever had of him is that he is a great young man, both on and off the court.

Jay's a very good ball player and a even better guy. This is a very tough break to lose him for the first month or so espicaly since we play IU in our 2nd game. Good thing is he's not done for the season. Here's to a speedy and complete recovery!

might be better for ISU to redshirt Jay for this season, then come back in 07-08 with a much improved, and healthier, team. This next season is gonna be a nightmare for ISU, too much lost talent and too many newcomers who have yet to play. Our optimism is not high in ISU-land.

Adding to the previous comment by ISU87, I'm not sure that Waltman is relevant to this decision. Does his contract expire after this year? If he tries to rush Jay back merely for his own benefit (and hopes that it leads to another year or two on the bench), there is the potential for ruining a young man's career potential beyond college, even if it means playing abroad or something else less than the NBA.

I think that Jay and his parents should do what's best for Jay.

I think he is indeed in the last year of his contract, so Jay needs to do what's best for Jay.

This is bad for all the Valley, since anything that hurts Valley teams succeeding in the OOC is bad for Valley rpi. While it is a shame that Moss was hurt last year, it helped the Valley that it happened after the OOC schedule.
