Per the message board Letsgobears.com., it looks like the Gateway is considering changing the name to the Missouri Valley. Anyone heard anything about this? Our play by play announcer was talking about this on the air during Saturdays Bear postgame report.

No, we don't. But I honestly think this is getting ready to happen and mabey as early as the start of next season. With or without you Drake. Our play by play guy is fairly knowlegable on these subjects, so somthing must be up with the Gateway. He said somthing about it being a credibility issue and name branding for the MVC. The Gateway is based out of the MVC office already and if Elgin is behind it, it's probably going to happen.

Just wanted to se if anyone else knew anything about this.

I know so Drake can feel included we can have MVC Scholarship and MVC Non-Scholarship Divisions :)

I would find it more believable if there was an announcement from Elgin rather than some play-by-play guy.

Is Mitch Holthus up to something? Sad reality is no matter the name, when they play a Big XII or a Big Ten team, they will be chow for them. Well, maybe if they play Iowa State, Northwestern, or Indiana...
