Drake freshman wins national Boys Club award

Drake football player Stacey Walker has won a national award, a $15,000 scholarship, an interview on The Today show and a meeting with George Bush.

Drake Football Player Honored by Boys and Girls Club

September 21, 2006--Drake football player Stacey Walker has been named the National Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls Club of America. Walker was chosen over four other finalists for the award. It honors teens for their dedication to their families, community and local Boys and Girls club.

The Cedar Rapids native lost his mother when he was four-years-old, that's when he became a boys club member. He eventually became a mentor and staff member. Walker met with President Bush today and also appeared on the Today Show this morning.
