Illinois State to face Iowa??

In the Cedar Rapids Gazette today it said Iowa will face Illinois State in a closed scrimmage before their first exibition game Nov. 10th. Anyone have any information on this?

Hmmm? Could this scrimmage possibly be leading to a series between the 2 schools? Would be nice to get another Big 10 school on a Valley school's non-con sched. If the Redbirds program is indeed on the rise, then the Hawkeyes might be interested in getting a series started. With the schools only about 4 hours drive apart, could be a nice intra-state thing...who knows? :original:

Weve done these closed scrimmages before, so its really no surprise. Last year we had one @ Ball State. This scrimmage @ Iowa is this Thursday, which is the day after our exhibition game vs. Missouri St. Louis. We also are not having our usual Red/White scrimmage this year and Moser wanted to get some extra game prep time before we head to the Florida St. tourney on Nov 12.

That being said, Id love to get a series with Iowa. Both schools are relatively close and so it would be easy travel for both teams' fans. Maybe this scrimmage will open the communication lines with them, who knows?

The year was '88 and I believe the score was actually 89-88 on a last second 3-ball from Matt Taphorn. The score was definitely in the 80's. A very good win indeed.

With the icy at best relationship between MSU and IlSU during the Alford-Stallings years, I gotta believe Alford has no interest in doing any games with us. A closed scrimmage is one thing, but having a series is another. I don't see it.

Tis true, tis true, Iowans hate Steve Alford. He is soooo full of himself.
That said, I'd love to see Illinois State play Iowa.
