How about former D-1AA player of the year at EIU making the start for the Cowboys. Oh, by the way, his #1 target also went to a D-1AA college.

During the game they mentioned that Romo is the only NFL player to ever come out of EIU, but that 3 current NFL coaches went through there.

wow.

I hate Terrell Owens.
I like Tony Romo.

So, I'm very conflicted on the subject.

you're conflicted...

I grew up in East Texas and have been a Cowboys fan my whole life. Thusly, I HATE Owens.

I have pretty much just stopped watching the NFL.

They would be wrong. Jeff Gossett from EIU punted for the Oakland Raiders from 1988 to 1996... if you want to call punters NFL players.

Also, RB Roy Banks (1983-1986) played for the Indianapolis Colts for a little while.

Plus, they've had many players drafted or signed as free agents. They have 3 guys on NFL rosters this season.

John "Jurko" Jurkovic-Defensive Tackle-The Good Kid

Packers, Jaguars, Browns for about 10 years in the NFL was also an EIU guy. He is now a huge Chicago sports radio personality as part of the famed "Mac, Jurko and Harry" show on AM1000 ESPN from 3-7pm M-F.

Former obese NBA center Kevin Duckworth is also an EIU guy.

I believe they said Romo was the only QB from EIU to ever play in the NFL. I believe they said something about how Miami OH was where QBs came from and EIU was where the coaches come from. Something along those lines anyway.

Here is the quote from the article.

Proof positive that he is an idiot.

""His senior year, a recruiter from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga visited the school. Not for TO, but rather to watch game film on one of his teammates. Evidently, Owens caught his eye, because UTC, a Division I-AA school from the seldom-publicized Southern Conference, offered him a football scholarship. "When I got there, I didn't really think too much about football," Owens says. "I just thought it was a way for me to go to school, because I couldn't afford it otherwise. I was green to a lot of stuff." (Owens was so naive that he thought he was at Tennessee-Knoxville, a D-I power-house and winner of two national championships in its history. "He thought he was a Volunteer!" laughs Primm.)""
