While the pre-season polls and prognostications are interesting to see how the outside world sees your team, all of that will eventually be sorted out on the court.
Personally, I think WSU, the defending regular season MVC Champion and Sweet 16 participant, will be a better team this year than last. That said, they are not unfairly placed as a pre-season #3 in the MVC. That says a lot to me about how tough the MVC will be this year.
What I am interested in is what games on your non-conference schedule (excluding Bracket Busters) do you have that will give the MVC a chance to really boost the league's RPI before we start knocking each other around.
For WSU, these are our key non-conference games:
11/18 - @ George Mason
11/25 - @ LSU
12/02 - @ Syracuse
12/09 - @ Wyoming (not sure how high an RPI Wyoming will have but it's always tough to play on the road and I think this game is in Casper).
12/22 - vs New Mexico (Holiday Classic in Las Vegas)
12/23 - vs Kansas State or Southern Cal (Holiday Classic in Las Vegas)
Note that all of these key non-conference games are on the road or at a nuetral sight.
