Now this is what Valleytalk is all about!! I get to be the first to start a game thread.......yeah, yeah......I know, it's just exhibition season.
The Shocks open their exhibition season against Emporia State. The Hornets are coached by David Moe, and play an exciting up-tempo brand of basketball.
Moe is the son of former ABA/NBA player coach Doug Moe.
Haven't even looked at rosters, all I know is that these Hornets have come out buzzing the past two years against us. I predict it will be close for about a half, with the Shocks winning by 15.
Anyone else care to weigh in on this?

I like the sounds of it, but I think we can start to spread out a little earlier. I'm going to go with a 22 point victory.

The Bears open Wed night against Truman State which plays in the MIAA with Emporia State. I am excited to start seeing Valley scores and ready to get the Bear's season going.

Thanks for pointing that out, TNMSUFAN. I was so excited that I forgot to mention that it was Wednesday night.
It's like the guy who hardly ever plays....he was so excited about getting in the game that he forgot that he didn't have his basketball shorts on underneath his warmups and had to run back to the locker room.........

Bulldogs open up tomorrow night vs defending D-2 national champ Winona State....who is #1 pre-season this year. Drake will be playing without it's top 2 point guards. Should be interesting.

CU starts with the EA Sports All-Stars (as usual) on Thursday. It should be a fun way to get things going, former BJ's Joe Dabbert and Johnny Mathies are on the EA Sports roster.
Since there are a number of "pro" (mainly CBA) players on EA Sports, I expect it to remain somewhat close, with the Jays pulling away towards the end.
CU by 15.

It was posted on SN that ESU lost a lot of thier team from last season. They were pretty good last year as the pushed the Shox and I believe it was last year that they took Nevada down to the wire as well. They don't look to be as tough this season and I don't think it'll be much of game by halftime. 30 point victory

The Redbirds open up Wednesday night vs. Missouri-St. Louis at 7pm.
We are definately looking for the more up-tempo, end-to-end style that has been promised us, as opposed to the "stand around and wait for the shot clock to expire and throw up a prayer" style that we played last year
Fans definately seem excited as there has been more good hype and a more positive outlook on our team/season than weve had in the last several years. Our Hoopfest a couple weeks ago went well and was very encouraging. Hopefully we see some good things in the exhibition and then we can get ready to head to the Florida State tourney on Nov 12.

I hope you play that way. I like it when teams will run with the Shox. That's why I like MSU

UNI opens Wednesday night as well, they play Central College from Pella, IA. Will be really interesting to see the new freshmen: Eglseder, Koch, Ahlegbe, Jones, and Dunham. This team will go as far as they do.:panthers: :valley:

If you want to tune in to our game vs. Missouri-St. Louis tonight, go here http://goredbirds.cstv.com/multimedia/ilsu-m-baskbl.html Our radio announcers Dick Leudke and Mike Matthews are excellent and always do a great job with their broadcasts.
Under "Today's Events" at the top of the page is a link to the audio. It plays in Quicktime. (Ignore the typo that says we play NW Mo St. Thats our Women's exhibition opponent).
Also, I would imagine that some people will be posting score updates here on the board somewhere, as I believe 4 teams (us, UNI, WSU and MSU) all play tonight.

It looks like this EA Sports team could pose more of a challenge to the Jays than expected...They beat a VERY good Utah State team by 7 last night in Logan.
