sounds like the kid is very very raw. I hope the high school coaching staff can give him a crash course in just a year. Great size, Great athletecism, but simply hasn't played that much. From the sounds of it, he would be a definite red shirt his first year at SIU. Lets hope he can reach the potential his physical gifts have given him. Does anyone know his academic standing?

Great student Dawgie, he was home schooled till his Junior year at Red Hill.
I've seen him work out. I'm no expert but I can see what Lowery sees in him.
He's 6'11", still growing. He showed me that he is above average for his size in ball handling, can shoot off the dribble can finish with either hand with the slam, has long arms, above average hops, and has great hands. He can also run the floor extremely well for 6'11", 250 pounds. He told me he knows he'll red shirt and it's ok with him with Shaw, Foster and Falker coming back next year.

He came early to live in Carbondale? That is commitment that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Shows how freakin' stupid this star system is. Kid played for a small high school and an Indiana based AAU summer program and nobody knew who he was.

All the sudden he signs with SIU, has a good game for Carbondale high school in the Marshall County event and some national scouts watch him and he goes to three stars. They've seen him once.

He's going to redshirt for SIU next year, but he has a lot of size and more athleticism then most 6'10+ white guys. Runs the floor well. Has a chance to be a factor if developed.

I agree.
They basically said he was a 2 start because they hadn't seen him play and when they did they bumped him up to 3 stars. The whole star thing is something that is not that accurate but always nice to have the guys with 3 stars and above.
