The Redbirds beat Missouri-St. Louis 83-58. I'll post stats as soon as they're available.

Nice, granted it is just one game and an exhibition at that, but good stats for your new comers.

Boy isnt THAT an understatement
Score was 38-30 at halftime and alot of us were excited to have scored that much in 1 half. We certainly werent used to it. But we did get on a big run to open the 2nd half and that was basically all she wrote.
We have some bugs to work out, but thats what exhibition games are for. We saw some very encouraging things tonight and hopefully will build on that and work out the kinks so we are ready to go and face 3 tough teams in the Colonial Classic @ FSU. (We play SMU, Florida St, and McNeese St Nov 12-14). We're young, but tonight showed us alot. If the Redbirds can gel as 1....then the Redbirds will be back :)

Know USML is a midling DII team, but the Redbirds scored 83 points. Now that's a good sign that maybe ISU can help out the MVC non-con RPI. Hope so!

We hope so too! We will definately have the chance to do that with some solid road games. Our road non-con sched is definately better than our home sched. We have some tough games (@ Florida St, @ St. Johns, @ W. Mich, @ Ill-Chicago) but I think we'll be ready. First game in the Florida State tourney is a week from Sunday vs. SMU. Cant wait.
We've been half-joking around here lately about how good it was to put up 83 points, exhibition vs. a DII team or not. Last year it wouldve taken us 2 games to reach that number

The biggest thing to avoid getting embarrassed by a D2 team is perimeter defense. You are playing a team that wants to upset you and have guys that belong on the Hoosiers team. Players that will give their all and have a great perimeter shot. If you can establish an inside game and play perimeter D, you will win. Birds did just that.
