The article noted that Texas A&M returns 4 starters from a team that "made" the NCAA Tourney. The Aggies ranked all the way up at #13. Find it strange that Wichita St. returns 4 starters from a Sweet 16 team, but somehow is NOT rank in the top 25. Hmmm??? :ranting:

Awesome to finally get someone into the AP preseason Top 25, let alone at #19! Hopefully SIU and WSU aren't too far behind.

We return 5 starters from a team that "mae" the NCAA Tourney, yet we're not on there either. I think we'll both be 26-30ish.

Other headscratchers.....
# 25 Tennessee - #26WSU (I swore they settled this on the court last March)
K-State > MSU
These guys have no credibility.
Seriously though, good to see Creighton crack in with SIU and WSU just needing a few wins to make it.:valley:

A Georgia Tech team that finished 11-17 last season rates above BOTH WSU and SIU?? How does that happen. And look at the disparity in votes between Texas A& M (868) and WSU (181) or SIU (138). And still don't see how a midling Kansas St. team rates over the MSU Bears. Well, at least MSU came in at #46.
Can truly appreciate this much pre-season pub for the MVC, but STILL think many of the national b-ball media are not overly impressed with the Valley's top teams. Well, guess there's one way to change that: go out and win games and keep on winning, so MVC teams CAN earn their respect.
4 days till b-ball....YES!!! :valley:

I also find it hard to believe that SIU wouldn't be in the top 25. They return every starter on a team that was already good. It just makes you wonder who researches some of this stuff. If any team in a BCS conference returned 5 starters they would be there. Oh well, just have to prove them wrong.........again.

here is how you compile a pre-season poll on a sport:
pull the rankings out of your ***
come up with some stats to justify those rankings

How far we've come. Three teams in the top 27 is pretty effing cool if you ask me!
I just hope my Jays can find a point guard that can run the offense effectively before the real season starts....

I'll take #27 in the AP preseason poll any day. It's time for the Valley to make another statement this season; let's really bust out of the gates and win these early non-conference games!

EXACTLY!
Those who think we are still being slighted are drinking too much Valley Kool-Aid. We take care of business as a league again this year and we'll have two or three teams in next year's Top 25.

You've heard of lake effect snow? This phenomenon is Huggie-fect votes.
It's the hype machine. They may be that good once Bill Walker gets some games under his belt, but not right now.
I'm of the opinion that polls shouldn't come out until week 3 or 4.
I guess the beauty of college basketball, though, is that a lowball preseason ranking doesn't inherently ruin your chances of postseason greatness like it does in D-1 football.
Congrats to CU, though. You've managed to break through the BCS-brotherhood and get a good preseason ranking based on logical thought, and not "I've heard of this team, so they must be better than the other one."
If SIU and WSU play well for the first few weeks, we should have 3 top 25 Valley teams. Wonder when the last time was that happened? I'd guess the early 80's.

I think SIU is overrated, so I can see why they're not ranked. Their defense is excellent, but they don't score enough to be a consistent threat.
Creighton is where they should be, though if Dotzler doesn't play, they'll suffer.
Wichita State and Missouri State are under-valued -- MSU being rated under the likes of Bucknell, for example, being a joke.

Its not a nightmare, that would be really cool. But I agree with Joey, this is a process. And we aren't there yet like so many people think. I simply don't think we are as far along in the process as others think we are. We are all on the same team, I want the same things for the valley as everyone else on this board does. I simply think its going to take longer to get there than most other people do. I guess if being realistic is anti valley, then I guess I'm anti valley. Again, we have the same goals in mind, I just don't think we're there yet.

SIU will take a hit from the season-long absence of Cornelius, and the partial season (assuming no redshirt) of Josh Bone. They were both expected to contribute offensively this year.
On the other hand, Mullins was 3 of 4 from downtown last night!

I think I saw him make one of his very few 3s last year. I really like Mullins, hope he becomes a stud this year. 3 teams in the top 27 and 4 in the top 46. Should be even better in a few weeks.:valley:

So, 'Style......when are you gonna go visit the new Omega Moo chapter at the U of Maryland??:naughty:
Style was the guy who finally decided to see what "this whole microwave-oven thing is about" in around 2002.

Nice debut for everyone. MSU has a pretty tough opening night game against Toledo, who is picked to win the MAC, so we get a chance to keep moving up early in the season with that game and then the Padre tourney.
Win some games Valley, three teams in the top-25 at the same time is just a few weeks away if you do.
