Here are a few items from the Eagle's basketball preview on the Valley and WSU:
The Valley:
Missouri Valley's next step: Staying in national spotlight (http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/special_packages/15939915.htm)
A LOOK AT THE MVC (http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/special_packages/15939876.htm)
Salukis will love this Part:
The Salukis are hard to love, because they turn every game into an ugly-dog brawl. And the Salukis can't shoot. Not from the free-throw line. Not from the three-point line. Not from a lot of places.
MVC SCHEDULE (http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/special_packages/15945133.htm)
Wichita State:
Sweet 16 season offers needed proof (http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/special_packages/15941972.htm)
Paul Suellentrop breaks down the Shockers (http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/special_packages/15939881.htm)
This is interesting:
-Wichita State went 7-3 in games in which Miller scored fewer than 10 points.
-WSU went 3-3 when Miller scored 18 or more points.
Aim for perspective, you Shocker faithful (http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/special_packages/15941997.htm)
:shockers: :valley:

Good reads. I guess even in Wichita they predict the trees last:
10. Indiana State
The only safe pick of the bunch.
No David Moss, the Valley's leading scorer in 2005-06. Guard Tyson Schnitker, the team's second-leading scorer, quit the sport. Sophomore center Jay Tunnell is battling a bad knee.
Guard Gabriel Moore and
forward Trent Wurtz are back. Forward Adam Arnold came on late in the season. Tunnell is tough, when healthy.
However, there's not enough firepower. The Sycamores rebounded poorly and played defensively dreadfully last season.

Here's another article I forgot to post:
Thomasson a fit on WSU's list, too (http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/special_packages/15941982.htm)
I am quickly taking a liking to this kid. He plays hard and seems to do whatever the coaches ask of him.

Generally I think your analysis of your team is pretty good. However, you need not mention that you are "quickly taking a liking to this kid" for the simple reason that none of us have ever heard you say that there was anyone on the team you haven't "taken a liking to."
Just giving you a hard time....:original:

I got ya  , but there are certain kids that quickly become fan favorites. Miller was one, Braeuer is one, and I think Thomasson could be one before he is done.

Miller took 5 years to become a fan favorite. Cous was much easier to like early on.

I agree that some may not like the comments about SIU but actually there are compliments embedded as well. I cannot understand, however why fans of other MVC teams keep complaining about our being thugs. We get called on anything close, have about 2-3 times more fouls than the opponents and put people on the foul ine equallly as many times. It's to your advantage and it's not like their letting us foul without calling it.

It's because it is ugly basketball and a bastardization of a game that is beautiful and flowing when it is played properly.
It is no fun to watch SIU play just like it is no fun to watch Big East brawls or the Eastern Conference of the NBA.

Hate to confuse you with the facts but according to the Saluki website:
Last season Fouls Siu 653 Opponents 570
Last Season FTs: Siu 579 Opponents 687
Not quite 2 or 3 to 1 ratio. However I will concur that Siu plays a style that is 2 to 3 times more irritating to watch than other schools.

To my friends in Wichita and Omaha ...
Yes, we are ugly to watch. Yes, we aren't very fun to play against.
But, my sig says all that really matters!:valley: :salukis: :shockers: :jays:

Turgeon had some comments on this topic during his first radio show tonight. He said he hopes the schools around the country who have deviated from the philosophy Dr. James Naismith had in mind when he invented the game simply stop trying to ugly-up the game. It was meant to be a finesse game, flowing with passing and cutting and shooting. He mentioned that he's tired of players getting tackled and shoved when they try to cross the lane.
He didn't say it but I think the term 'bastardization of the game' is a pretty apt description.

Point guard Brooks McKowen has played in a lot of big games.
This cracks me up because that is about as much as you can say about him.
