According to his post-game comments, Shocker coach Mark Turgeon cut practices short during the past week. Citing experience and efficiency in learning through intense effort and concentration, the Shockers only practiced for four hours during the past week.

How often do you see a coach cutting practice short multiple times because he got everything he wanted from the team in less time than anticipated?

Maybe a team picked third by "the experts" shouldn't be so happy with their progress. Maybe Coach Turgeon shouldn't be so carefree and whimsical in his approach.

I figured you would care about the health and well-being of the student athletes. Isn't it comforting to know that because of their drive, focus and intensity during basketball practice that they are able to spend more time on their studies? That can only help the world become a better place, right? Cuhoops, you don't care about making the world a better place through a more educated populace?

Maybe all the other schools will follow WSU's lead and cut back on practice time as well.

Hesaidso, truly, you're a ******* idiot.

Hey mods, since this was obviously an intentional attempt to get under people's skin, shouldn't it be relegated to the smack board?

There is no smack talk on this thread. No one from WSU has even mentioned any other team besides the Shockers. How can you have smack talk without bashing another team? In fact the only Ill words on this thread came from....you LincolnJay. Maybe if you are going to try and incite a flame thread you should do it on the smack talk board.

Has to be pulling your leg because I can't imagine that a team which didn't make the NCAA tournament last year could afford to cut back on practice time!

The shockers have made the tourney 1 year out of the last twenty.

They certainly know what they are doing. You dont get a 5% success rate without being really smart.

This thread may be useless for Valley fans - I'll give you that. But the only thread that seems like it was an intentional attempt to get under people's skin was a thread interestingly started by you entitled "Funny as hell article from Wichita paper"....

If ISASO could harness the effort the WSU basketball players have, maybe he could post less. Please concentrate ISASO, concentrate.

Do people really have effort or do they put forth effort?

Regardless, I just wish Turgeon worried a bit more about his teams' performance. First, he accuses them of practicing "too hard" in August and now he's giving them time off from practice. He has such a lackadaisical attitude...you know, I bet he's in bed by 10 on game nights.

I'm throwing in the towel. I hoped that leading up to the tipoff of the season that their could be some intelligent discussions, there were, but the flaming is back in full force.

I doubt it. Last year, Turgeon got tired of falling off at the end of the season, so he lightened up. He's trying to avoid late-season injury and fatigue. This seemed to work last year. Lets remember they've already had 2 extra weeks of practice due to Canada.

(yes i noticed the sarcasm, just thought it was a decent point to be made)
