The new ESPN Power 16 ranking has WSU as a #2 seed.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/powerranking
Since we have had some debate on this board about how people like Gottleib and Bilas see the MVC it is intersting to note that Gottleib has WSU has the #2 team in the nation, while Bilas still has them rated behind Kansas and Alabama (#9 overall).

Missouri State doesn't lose a game and they drop out of the few Power 16's that had them last week.
Makes a lot of sense....
FYI, I'm waiting for the Dawgie rant...

I'm one that is hoping that MSU is ranked as highly and as soon as possible but I don't think they are going to be given the respect they deserve based on OOC play. They will probably have to earn it with Valley wins, which is not all bad since you have to win there anyway for it to ultimately matter. The one thing that should be different this year is that the committee cannot get away with snubbing them two years in a row. (As an objective observer I am confident of that, if I was a MSU fan I would be cynical).

I agree.
It sure would be nice to see two Top 25 teams play each other in early January..:naughty:

He doesnt' have them listed as the #2 team in the nation, he has them as a #2 seed. At best that means #5 or at worst #8.

He said earlier in his post that they were the #2 seed. I think he just mis-posted.

Doesn't his quote say they are listed as a two seed? Read a little more carefully before posting, you won't look so stupid.

Just to clarify, here are Gottlieb's ranks:
Doug Gottlieb
1. UCLA
2. Wichita State
3. Pittsburgh
4. North Carolina
5. Ohio State
6. Florida
7. Wisconsin
8. Arizona
9. Kansas
10. Butler
11. Gonzaga
12. Oklahoma State
13. Duke
14. Texas A&M
15. Air Force
16. Oregon
Those aren't seeds, they are rankings, so he does have WSU at #2 in the nation. Each of the pundit's rankings are combined and then divided into seeds.
I'm not sure where the confusion is at? tgcshock's first post is accurate.

I see, sorry, but that was not the link that was given. If that was meant to be information we were to see, maybe it should have had a link as well.

Well, if you would just open your eyes you can see the link to each individual's rankings on the same page, but we should all know better than to expect too much from you so here's a special link just for ya buddy.

Not quite true. Yes it was an apology, but it was quickly followed by an excuse. I didn't realize that we are required to lay out information as if everyone were in elementary school on here. All he had to do was read and that's all I was saying with my previous post, but thanks for looking out for Dawgie, he does need a little pick-me-up every now and then.

Sorry. Didn't think it was necessary because I had posted it the same way on shockernet originally and no one had a problem figuring it out. I'll give the additional link next time.

If that quote is not the pot calling the kettle black I don't know what is. Take it easy Dawgie, you can sure dish it, but it's pretty obvious that you can't take it back. It's all light-hearted banter, lighten up man.....

That article contains one of my biggest pet peeves.
DON'T CALL US No. Iowa.
I hate hate hate it. If you want to abbreviate, call us UNI like everyone else does. The only people that call us Northern Iowa is the national media, and then they have to go and abbreviate us No. Iowa. Drives me crazy! That and the stupid So. Ill. I hate that too. I don't like Southern Illinois uses SIU as much as we use UNI, but I'm sure they would appreciate not being called So. Ill.

Thank you Dawgie. The more the thread degenerated, the more I wished I had posted that second link. My real point in all this is to say that as someone who has been skeptical of Gottleib in the past, I was pleasantly surprised by his rankings. Of course, since both he and Bilas have been all over the map about the MVC in the past, things might be quite different tomorrow. Still, I will take good rankings for WSU and for the MVC whenever we can get them because we are still in the process of changing national perceptions.

if I were to trust anyone's power rankings it would be Joe Lunardis. He's the only one not concerned with polls. The only thing he cares about and does is projecting the NCAA tournament and where teams will be seeded. He could care less about conf. affilliation, rank, etc etc. He's rarely wrong. He's my favorite Analyst by far.

I tend to agree that he is more objective and more focused on potential tournament success.
