What about Missouri State?

The Bears can't get a sniff in either poll, even though Missouri State beat Wisconsin in South Padre Island, Texas, and their only loss prior to Monday night at Saint Louis had been Oklahoma State in the final of that tournament.

"I talked to [Wichita State coach] Mark Turgeon about it and he said the high majors don't want to vote for you because it doesn't help their league and the lower schools don't want to vote for you because they're jealous," Missouri State coach Barry Hinson said Tuesday. "The coaches' poll is all political, but you can't worry about it. I know we've got a good basketball team."

As for Tuesday night's loss, well, Hinson isn't about to argue the result. Officials had to go to the monitor to rule whether or not Ian Vouyoukas' last-second tip was good for the 51-50 win. It was initially ruled to be too late.

"I know the officials and they went to the monitor and I trust them," Hinson said. "But that's the first game I've lost to the monitor. I didn't have to see it to know I trust them."

The Bears were right there to win the game despite leading scorer Blake Ahearn (15.5 ppg) being held scoreless and, as Hinson said, "the senior starters shooting a combined 21 percent and getting outrebounded and still only losing by a tip-in isn't bad." The Billikens are 9-2, with their only bad performance being a 69-33 pasting at Texas A&M. They also lost by nine at Southern Illinois.

"You guys seem to decide what is a bad loss, and that's not one of them," Hinson said of losing to Saint Louis on the road. "When we stub our toe, it is much more magnified than when Pitt, a good basketball team, loses at Wisconsin. We're not in the Top 25 and we won't be now for awhile."

Hinson said he still thinks about being snubbed for an NCAA Tournament bid last season.

"It was tough, it's still tough and I think about it almost every day," Hinson said. "The one thing we do have this year that we didn't last year is that marquee win. We'll get beat more in our league because it's good. People say, 'How can you lose at Indiana State?', and the reason is they're good."

It is a shame that SLU won that game with a last second lucky shot.

The Bears have been getting screwed and now the pollsters have more reason not to vote for them.:bears: :valley:

I'm not sure MSU is a top 25 team just yet. They're good, but as seen by tonight, they still have quite a ways to go.
