Seems to reason 3 games into the conference season. Why play the rest :original:
Seriously, with UNI the current frontrunner it would be hard to argue this... however, if you want to bet on the final results, I suspect you'd find some willing parties to engage you.

Prediction: UNI finishes 4th in the MVC this year. when it is all said and done.

You might want to try and play more then 1 MVC road game before you start chest puffing. There is a heck of alot of road games that UNI can and will lose before its all said and done.

You remind me of SIU fans last year after their 6-0 start. Then they went 6-6.

... too bad they don't actually give these awards away after the third conference game and they make you go ahead and play the rest of the season.

Wow, don't know what to say. I think some of our fans have jumped in the car and are trying to drive away. Way too early for this kind of talk. In Coach Mac's first year we started 4-0 and only won 4 more the rest of the way. We are much better than then, but so is the Valley.

Hey, UNI is good, but they play 18 games in this conference, not three.

It's a silly discussion at this point but if you have to have it, Royce Waltman has the predicted 10th team in the league at 3-1 in the conference and 10-4 overall.

He was just a year ahead of himself when he gave the Trees a first-place vote at Media Day..... :bounceblue:

uh... that would be one Panther. We'll trade him for rasputin, plus a draft pick to be named later.
It's nice to see the enthusiasm, but come on guys.
I hear the Panther fans are also going to start selling NCAA Champion t-shirts next week. :innocent:

This ain't your mamas Panther team, girls. You saw the COY and POY picks here first. Hmmm, no hypothetical POY contenders? And Waltman (a guy on the hot seat, over Jake)?
Get yourself a cup of coffee, wake up, and then smell it.

Royce Waltman is the coach of the year thus far and it's not even close. If Lowery, who is in his third year, can't get any credit for taking teams to the NCAA tournament and actually winning because he followed Weber and Painter, Jacobson can't get any love for playing with McDermott's recruits.
Grant Stout is the Valley player I'd most like to see at SIU. He's a stud. Coleman is pretty dang good, too. But they aren't co-players of the year ... yet.

I agree with your assessment MSNSaluki, Lowery hasn't been given his due in terms of respect. However, if Jacobson accomplishes something that his predecessor did not, winning the MVC regular season championship, I think he would have to get strong consideration considering most picked the Panthers 5th (or worse).
Let me stress, I said IF. I'm not predecting anything of the sort here yet. Certainly the Sycamores and Panthers are the pleasant suprises of the valley so far.

As suspected, no candidates fup or discussion. Fact of the matter is; no player for either SIU or WSU have even laced them up yet this year. Falker didn't even break a sweat the other day in Cedar Falls. And for all of the big deal WSU generated to end the season last year, outside of Turgeon, everyone else seems to be asleep at the switch.

Why not drink the entire pitcher of kool-aid??? Coach of the year and Player of the year as listed...
Defensive MVP- Stout
All Defensive Team- Stout, Coleman, Brown, Josten, Mckowen
Frosh of the Year-Adam Koch
Best 6th Man- Adam Viet
Most Improved-Jared Josten
Only two weeks ago Drake thought they were the "surprise" team of the year.
Looking at the schedule UNI could lose every game this month. So far I've been pleasantly surprised with Coach Jake, the improvement of Coleman, and the play of the frosh. Hopefully they keep working hard and two months from now...

I really like your new coach. In fact, I've been privately wondering if UNI actually improved at the coaching position after McDermott left. I do think that I'd wait a little while before giving out any awards though.

Yeah, Jacobsen seems to have opened the offense a bit and let the guys run more than McD. I like what I have seen so far from UNI.
