I really love our announcers! They are the most unbiased announcers that I have experienced so far this year in all the games I've listened to and are very articulate and well spoken. At least we have that to cheer for!!
:redbirds:
Seriously though, Coleman just blocked Dyer down low going up for a layup, our crowd went nuts booing the refs and our announcer said "Our fans were wanting a foul after Levi got STUFFED by Coleman!". He didn't sit there and say what a horrible call it was or whatever else I've heard from other Valley announcers. Just my opinion....

Just one of those games that UNI did not deserve to win. They didn't play like they usually do. Almost seemed like a different game plan than usual. I just don't see why UNI was settling for 3's. It seems like every year UNI gets stung by one of the teams that seems to be at the bottom part of the conference. If UNI wants to get to the next level, they're going to have to win those games they're supposed to.

Bad loss for UNI puts us back at even for the year when compared to last year. (W over Bradley, L at IlSU) Have to get back on the positive side of things.

Good game for the Redbirds. They played hard and hit the shots. Maybe this will kickstart that talent into a force that won't roll over for the rest of the conference. Then this loss won't look as bad in two months.

Ahhh, bummer.....I have been at a meeting all night and didn't get to listen to the game. Sounds like the Cats got outplayed though. I'm disappointed, but not surprised....no road games are going to be easy this year. Oh well, still at least tied at the top (although who knows for how long, with the luck we've had against CU lately!) Maybe this is a confidence builder that can get things going for the Redbirds? Anyway, congrats on the win.

Obviously Im very happy by the gutsy, determined win by my Redbirds tonight, but that said...

I want to tip my hat to both teams. This was an EXCELLENT basketball game. 2 tough, physical teams who really left it all on the floor. I said to some friends of mine in the (Xmas break-laden) student section toward the end of regulation that this is BY FAR the game weve played the hardest in MVC play. Not saying we didnt play hard in the earlier conference games, but tonight we REALLY played our asses off. When Dyer missed that back end of the 1-1 with 3.8 left in regulation and we were up by 3, I said aloud "please dont let that come back to haunt us!" and then McCowan hit the 3 to send it to OT...the small but mighty crowd all felt like we were punched in the gut

But the 'Birds gutted it out against an exellent UNI team and got a much, much needed win. Again though, UNI is a damn good team. Both teams wanted this one, we were just fortunate to pull it out.

Great b-ball game in a great conference. Would have been a win over a top 25 team if the MVC could get the respect it deserves. However, with some of the higher teams on UNI's schedule struggling and a loss to Loyola, they were kept out.

Kudos to the Redbirds. UNI came out a little flat and ISU took full advantage by playing an aggressive game and making the most of their opportunities. I think they came in shootinf 54% from the FT line in Valley play and hit over 80% of their FT's last night. So all credit goes to the Redbirds. Now I just hope UNI can bounce back and protect their home court vs. a co-leader in Creighton...a team they haven't beaten in 2 years or more. GO PANTHERS!!!

I haven't heard anyone from UNi call this a trap game. Is it at least a little bit possible Uni was looking past IlSU for Friday's game?

I know that I was extremely scared of the Jays looking past Drake last night for the match-up Friday.

By the way, for all of you UNI fans who have discussed losing to CU the last few years, need I remind you that you have a new coach? Dana might have owned McDermott, but McDermott isn't there any more....

It was a tough place to have a game like this. I would much rather have two "lesser opponents" (if there is such a thing in this league) in the same week rather than a lesser than a greater...

Even if those two games would have been flipped around, I think we would have fared better...

UNI is set up to lose two in a row. Four bids are in jeopardy. :naughty:

There is no such thing as a trap game in this conference.

Your right UNI would be 13-4 in your scenario... Just horrible....

Thats what I love about this board. Somebody loses one game, or a team has a rough stretch like Wichita and all of a sudden the league is terrible, it won't get as many teams in the tournament, and the general BCS paranoia comes out.

Lighten up everybody, its JANUARY 11. There is so much basketball left to be played around the country. I still believe that this is a 5 bid league this year, just give everything a chance to wash out:valley: .
