We have Creighton, SIU, and Mo State (INSU i don't mean to dog you, but you lost a conference game by 20)

Right now CU and Mo State have impressive Road wins (CU at UNI, MSU at Bradley)

I would pick Mo State as the team to beat but right now CU has notched a win against us and the have a 1/2 game lead.....plus they match up very well with us.

I'm going to have to say Creighton is in the drivers seat as of today.

I'll probably change my tune tomorrow to the winner of the SIU-Mo St. game.

Southern Illinois is going to win the Valley. Wichita will bounce back, they've lost AT southern, AT missouri state, northern iowa at home, and AT indiana state. What team is going to win any of those road games? One win out of those 3 road games would be very impressive. Wichita just got the shaft having to start out with all these tough road games right away.

SIU/MSU
WSU/CU/UNI/ISU(blue)

I'm really glad that Creighton pulled out the win over MSU but I just don't think we can beat Southern in Carbondale or Omaha. If Dotzler comes back healthy we'll have a shot, but Funk can't do EVERYTHING. The only trusted ballhandlers this team has are Funk, Dotzler, and Miles. But even Miles makes a stupid mistake every once in a while.

This is going to be one crazy valley season. I'm excited.

I still see the valley as the same power teams as last year
:braves: :jays: :bears: :panthers: :salukis: :shockers: I'll hold my judgement on INSU for 2 more weeks.

of those top six I believe it will come down to who can win 2 or 3 Road games against that group.......If you hold home court well you can survive with 2.....if you lose more than 1 home game you will need 3 IMO.

I may be in the Minority but i still think the regular season champ will be 14-4 and a log jam at 12-6 between 2 or 3 other teams.

One of the reasons i like MSU's chances, is because they never have to play back to back road games against the top tier......their toughest stretch is probably @UNI, SIU, @WSU

SIU's brutal stretch is @WSU, Bradley, Creighton, @MSU (that sucks)

Creighton has @WSU, Bradley, SIU, @MSU

WSU already went through their toughest stretch, that didn't end to well.

UNI has MSU, @ Creighton, @Bradley

I still cant believe we let that one get away at CU! We would then be looking at a two game lead!

I would be more concerned with the SIU game.

I'm plenty concerned about the Ugly Dawgs. The ice storm that's threatening the rest of us will pass north of Carbondale. I was hoping for a storm-deflated crowd, but that doesn't look likely. :helpsmilie:

Smacktalk is in the right area, 14-4, 13-5 for the two top teams, (MSU & Creighton), then the logjam likely for 3.4.5. Yes, its the craziest & toughest Valley season

If Cu is in the driver's seat it stays there only until the SIU/MSU game is over. the winner of that match-up takes the driver's seat immediately after the game.

CUHOOPS is right; we don't have many trusted ball handlers (although I'd add Bahe to his list) and the games against SIU scare me. If Dotzler is back for the SIU game (I notice he did suit up last night for the first time since his finger surgery), then we may have a chance at home since I expect a crowd in excess of 17,000 for that game. Once again, SIU is the team that presents CU with the biggest match-up problems. We do match-up well with MSU and UNI.

I don't think that people should be discounting InSU too much, especially at home. They are still undefeated at home and have knocked off some very good teams there. That three point loss still haunts me....

Seperation weekend is here. CU took the first step last night. The SIU MSU winner will join them. Can InSU keep it rolling or will the Braves sharpshooters chop some wood? I look for WSU to make some noise before it is over. You are very correct loooooong way to go. By the way Sfanatic how is the weather in Terre Haute today? Thin crowd because of ice?

Nope.....weather's all rain here. I don't really believe that will help build a bigger crowd, but we'll see. I really only expect about 5000 there or so. I hope I'm wrong and we can pack the house for the Sycamores today.!!:sycamores:

I'd be thrilled with 5,000, since the Colts are on TV right up until our game starts. That'll hurt attendance, and Terre Haute fans are fickle when it comes to opening their pocketbooks...

GO TREES!!!

I don't think CU can be considered a front runner in the league at this point. They still have to prove they can consistently play at a high level - esp. considering the way the season started. A win on Monday night would go a long way in moving the Jays up into the top tier.

It isn't even raining here right now. Not cold enough for the frozen stuff either. Went to get a ticket and the lady said they only had about 800 left.

I agree - don't put the Jays there just yet. I'll take MSU with SIU and CU battling for second. The win CU got at home a couple weeks ago against MSU may be the ulltimate difference for 1st-2nd place, but there's a lot of season left.

The Jays deserve be be there, no question. They've done just as much as anyone in the conference. The win at UNI proved that the Jays are back.

Trees have a great start, could see them finishing 10-8 with no injuries, might be 5th at the finish.

If SIU can beat Missouri State today, the Salukis are in the mix.
If Missouri State wins today, the Bears are the overwhelming favorite in book to win the league.

SIU/CU/MSU, in no particular order. Each has a legitimate shot, none are favorites. Southern Illinois is always tough down the stretch, Creighton is getting better every game and Missouri State can flat-out score points.Win or lose,Overwhelming is a little Overstated.

I agree with the poster formerly known as Joey Eischen

(although "overwhelming" might be a bit of over statement, MSU would certainly be the fav in they win today)
