Can you find a more negative poster than Dawg Tired???? Blaming random Drake opponents for never experiencing love?

Just one time... post something positive. Even when Drake wins you are negative?

Find a 12 step program, therapy, a love interest, joy in small things, something.

McBulldog, it's not their fault. Just as it was not their fault they lost to SIU. It comes from their parents...no...their teachers...no they were the brunt of bullies...no it's racial....no it's because they went to a directional school. Yeah, that's it. Not their fault at all.

 Typical Drake fan, talk basketball for a couple of weeks and then talk about academics. Hang your hat on something. I'm sure if anyone outside of Des Monies knew that Drake wasn't the satellite school for Simpson or Buena Vista, they'd really be impressed with you. Until then, you'll just have to go to a athletic forum and talk about academics. UNI is a fine education, but if I gave a ***** about explaining it to you, I'd probably go to a message board about Iowa academics, not sports.

I posted "you're not all that" earlier in the year when some obnoxious UNI fans were beating their chests about how good they were. It amazes me that you spend so much time whining about being picked on and then start threads like this and insist on talking about anything but basketball. Enjoy your teams victory and grow a little thicker skin before you decide to make a fool of yourself again.

Last night was a huge victory for Drake, and I'm not talking about beating UNI. The crowd was lively and loud and provided a big-time home court advantage. That's the atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

I though the UNI fans that were there made a lot of noise too.....I'd say there were close to 2000 UNI people there.....what was your take on it as a UNI fan?

I can only compare it to years past. Last year it felt that the UNI chants were loud enough to be heard over Drake fans, and at times to drown out even the student section at the Knapp. I never once felt like that last night. I was sitting in a section with a lot of UNI fans and while fans were loud, the student section alone could easily drown out any noise with chants of their own.

I had a lot of fun with a lot of good people which sort of helped soften the blow. I left very impressed with Drake fans as a whole, not that my opinion matters, but the level of excitement in the building was intense.

Last night it was ESPN's fault. The game was originally on ESPNU at 8:05, which it said on season tickets. The game of course was moved to 6 and ESPN2. This change in start time caused a late arriving crowd, and also a late arriving Grant Stout(1 first half point, 21 2nd half pts).

The Ref I refer to as "Crazy Eyes" did the game last night (Anybody who watches "Curb Your Enthusiasm" knows Crazy Eyed Killer.) This ref has a glass eye or something and it makes for good entertainment. One foul call underneath the basket he was completely angled so only his "good" eye had a view.Kinda looks like this...:boxed:

As I sat with with my son at the game we talked about how much things have changed. You used be able to come in late and get a great seat. You could shout, "SOLA, he's cutting to the back door" and JJ would move because your voice was the only one. For big games Drake was the visitor in their own gym. I think 2,000 UNI fans is a bit high, closer to 1,200 would be my guess. but they did make some good noise from time to time. The Knapp Center is definitely different than it was 5 years ago. Dr. Tom is to Drake basketball what Johnny Orr was to Iowa State. Orr was barely 500 after all those years, but he brought life to the program.
BTW, UNI is going to a very good team.

Was it the time when Eric Coleman had Kyle Wilson's arm hooked and was holding on to it, or the time when Coleman attempted to slam Matt Braeuer to the ground after the whistle had blown?

Crazy Eye must have been unable to see those plays b/c they occurred in front of his crazy eye.
Braeuer and Wilson need to take a lesson from Brooks McKowan on the art of flopping. Thought you said you liked the game b/c it was called "loose" and they let them play?

I did like the way it was called overall. But when you horse collar somebody, it is generally seen as a foul.

I agree. It was a pretty decent officiated game.

But I don't know how that Coleman-Braeuer exchange could of only resulted in just a "jump ball"? :helpsmilie:

Ferocious Cat

I thought it was well officiated. When they "let them play" it always seems to get a little more intense. Towards the end I just hoped that Coleman didn't kill anybody. He really flung Braeuer(sp.) at the end.

It wasn't Wilson he got "into" it with in that instance, though.

It was Matt Brauer, the smallest guy on the team.

That's correct, you did beat us twice this year. Glad Dr. Toad and Slots could get the boys up for their "Super Bowl" games and win the wonderful State of Iowa trophy. I suppose they call that a successful season in Des Moines. If only playing above .500 ball in the last couple of decades, challenging for a conference title, or having post-season aspirations were as important.

I don't want to get into the mudslinging/trashtalking....but, Drake did not play any better against UNI than they have in any other MVC games.....UNI is just the only team that couldn't hit 3's against DU......MVC teams' 3-pt% against DU (if you subtract the UNI games) is a mind-boggling 46.9%.....UNI's 3-pt% against Drake is 26.1%. If anything, I thought Drake's performances against UNI were below average.......if UNI could hit their 3's like most of Drake's opponents, they win both games easily.

I'll agree that Drake didn't play exceptional in Cedar Falls, but the shooting display they put on in the second half of the Des Moines game was lights out. They were close to 60% from behind the arc and they were shooting from 5 feet behind the line in some instances.

SPITZER IPO FRAUD SETTLEMENT --
Clark E. McLeod, the former chairman and chief executive of McLeodUSA Inc., agreed to turn over $4.4 million he was accused of earning from the act of "spinning," [New York State] Attorney General Eliot L. Spitzer said. The deal was to be formally announced today.

McLeod was accused of directing more than $77 million of McLeodUSA's investment banking business to Salomon Smith Barney. In exchange, the company "secretly" gave McLeod shares of more than 30 stocks before companies' initial public offerings, according to Spitzer's 2002 civil lawsuit.

Yeah, it's named after him because he gave the largest donation to the arena. Plus, his donation was the first big one to really jump start the project.

What can ya do? Maybe if we were Iowa State and wanted new locker rooms and a score board the state would hand over $60 million so we didn't have to accept money from scum bags.

The Iowa Board of Regents treats us like the classic little brother. They wouldn't even let us add a kitchen in the McLeod Center to cater special events and banquets. So, if you want to have a banquet there they have to cart food all the way across campus.

They also wouldn't let us spend more on a score/ribbon board and make up for it in with extra advertising. Soooo, for those of you that have been to the McLeod, you can understand our pitiful little ribbon boards...
