I think the win at Cameron today by Florida State takes them off the bubble completely. The bubble just got one smaller.

Jump the gun much ?

A win over a sinking Duke team helps but Florida State is nowhere near lock status.

Is that you Billy Packer or ESPN???

With an RPI of 27 and a previous win over Florida, I hardly saw them as a bubble team before today. Those kind of credentials with anything above .500 in conference are sure things for power conferences; add a road win against Duke and it's a done deal unless they really tank it from here out.

Our RPI is #19, our SOS is #15, we have wins against Florida and Duke at Cameron, and 5 of our 6 losses are to teams in the top 30 of the RPI.

Unless we tank and only win 2-3 games the rest of the year, we'll be in.

The Valley needs to worry more about the one-bid lock leagues (WCC, A-10, etc...) and have the teams that are suppose to win, win their tournaments (i.e. Gonzaga Syndrome).

Quoted for truth.

Gonzaga, Nevada, Memphis, maybe even VCU and Xavier. There's the teams to root for.

I agree with the FSU fan.....They have a more impressive resume than any Valley team.

I still think we (MSU) were left out because of Syracuse last season......You have to also worry about teams out of power conferences that aren't going to make it unless they win the tournament....

Teams that have a lot of talent and are able to go on a 3 game run, they just lack some consistency.

There are 1 or 2 in every BCS league that could win the Conference tournament that have no chance at an at-large bid.

I don't think Florida State has a more impressive resume than all Valley teams. Frankly, their resume is made up of three games: one great win (Florida) one great road win (Duke) and one decent neutral win (Providence.) I'm not counting wins at home because if you are in the discussion re. the tournament you SHOULD win at home. Thier overall numbers are very good because they played Pitt and Wisky on the road (both bad blow out losses) They are 4-5 against the top 50 and 4-5 road + neutral. Seven of their wins are over teams 200+. Show me the Valley team with 7 games ve 200+ and I'll show you an NIT team.

So you're saying FSU is an NIT team because we played 7 bad teams and won all of them easily? I guess this is the OOC profile of an NIT team then:

In case you couldn't figure it out... that's #1 Florida's OOC resume. Oh and their best road win just happens to be against #81 South Carolina. I suppose that makes them a bubble team if not an NIT team.

There is only one Valley team that has close to as good of a resume as FSU and that's Southern Illinois. Southern Illinois' best OOC road win? #84 Western Kentucky. Sure they won @Creighton but that was offset by a loss @Evansville.

FSU's 6 losses have come @#2, @#3, @#4, #24, @#27, and @#57.

Show me a Valley team with A) 2 marquee wins against the top 12 of the RPI (or Top 16 of the polls) and B) no loss to a team outside of the Top 60. Heck, show me one that has either!

FSU is all but a lock now. A couple more wins and the discussion will be over with.

You know your conference is putting a scare into the BCS conferences when they start defending themselves on the MVC board.

I mainly visit this board to read Jamarotology because I think it is one of the best bubble analysis' on the web including ESPN bracketology, CNNSI etc., but when I happen to see a mention of FSU I will respond.

OK Matt, fair enough. I'll restate. If a Valley team played 7 200+ RPI teams the committee would frown upon them. I'm personally happy that FL. State is in the tournament - and even more happy that you squashed Puke!

By the way - if this was the Warchant Board - Animal would have banned you for your negative comments - trust me, I know. I was banned from your board last season because I said Florida State would not make the tournament. :innocent:

The Florida State schedule follows the standard BCS format, load up on sub-par OOC teams, play lots of them at home, and then count on the good old "strong conference" argument to get you to the dance.

OOC home games:Florida State 9, SIU 4.

Somewhat true, but FSU did much better this year. They played Pittsburg, Wisconsin, and Florida in 3 consecutive games, 2 being on the road. They also played at Stetson, and at Georgia State. Why, I have no idea, but they did play 4 true road games in the non-conf.

True road games:Florida State 4, SIU 4

Which is EXACTLY why they have a high RPI and their wins against Florida at home, Puke on the road and Providence (N) will get them into the dance -barring a major meltdown. Had they not played at Stetson, and at Georgia State would their resume still be good enough? Probably. If they hadn't beaten Puke on the road? Perhaps not.

Not that this matters alot but isn't there a law that requires FSU and FU to play in sports? I could be way off on that though. Thought I heard somewhere there was a law they had to play evey year in football so thought it carried over to BB as well.

Who did FSU lose to last night???

Losing on the road by 3 to a team that at one point in the season was the last undefeated in all of the land isn't exactly a bad loss.

I hate FSU with a passion, but I respect what they have done on the court this year. They are a tournament team. I don't think they're a deep-run team, but they've earned the right to play for the national championship.
