Question for WSU fans.
Why does it seem that KBrad is forcing up shots at the worst times? does he have that green light? He reminds me of Randy Burns during his senior year. I don't understand how they don't get the ball to Ogirri or Wilson down the strech in games.

He's quite the source of frustration for WSU fans. I can't wait until he graduates.

I have often asked myself this very question. KB played well last year during the NCAA tournament and probably gained Turgeon's confidence. I do think he has a green light from Turgeon. Perhaps it is because Turgeon believes that KB is the team's best option when it comes to creating a shot. I really don't know. KB does force shots at the worst possible times – either (1) he is doing what is expected of him or (2) he thinks he is a little better than he actually is and decides to try and "take over" the game.
It bothers me because Turgeon has and will bench other players for taking shots like KB.

He does not have the green light. In fact, he has been the most talked-to person on the entire team about shot selection.
Much like Randy, Karon has a hero complex. The more the team needs a big shot, the more likely he is to take an ill-advised shot, especially one from behind the arc while on the move. Unfortunately, he's shooting about 2% for the season in that situation.
His intentions are great, he's not scared and he has hit big shots in crucial games in the past(Tennessee and LSU). He just can't hit those shots off the dribble from 3.

If he doesn't have a green light, I am surprised Turgeon puts up with him. It is not just that he takes the occasional bad shot; it is when he takes those shots. He doesn't play smart and it does more harm than good.

If Ogirri could get himself open like KBrad does then he could take the shots. While Ogirri is a better shooter Karon has a better ability to get open. Now if I could just explain why Karon will drive into the trees rather than pulling up for a 10 footer I would certainly do so.

There is a reason why KB can get open and Ogirri can't. Defenses stick on Ogirri like glue. SIU's D effectively took Ogirri out of the game. He had one decent look the entire game. KB, on the other hand, doesn't need to be guarded as tightly because he has a horrid shot. I've never seen a guy airball more three-pointers from wide-open than he has. He wants to be the "man", but he isn't. He really is a liability to the team because 90% of the time the KB that shows up is the one that takes horrible shots and refused to use that key ability in basketball called the "pass".

You have an excellent point because Karon is a very fine pull up shooter. The 3'-5' distance inside the 3 line must add at least 15 percentage points to his field goal accuracy. He can get open and make that shot and if fouled, he can sink the free throws. I would love to see his season stats on pull up jumpers. I bet it is 60% or more.

I am not talking about getting open for a 3 pointer. Ogirri needs to watch a lot of film of Tatum if he wants to do that. Watching film of Jason Perez working off-ball would also help. KBrad can and does get by his man and drive into the lane. Ogirri does not have that ability right now.

We've been asking the same question all year. Every time he's playing point guard down the stretch and the Shox are 4 or 5 behind, its been "and here comes Karon...":banghead:

K-Brad is a great kid, but you have asked the question on every Shocker fans mind. I don't know why he thinks he has to take every shot he feels is semi open, no matter if there is 30 seconds still on the shot clock.

Here in Omaha, we call that the Brice Nengsu disease. Dana has treated that disease by providing Nengsu with a permanent place on the bench, right next to the redshirts. Nengsu has reached the playing surface only in garbage time.

The problem with that is that KBrad has actually been clutch for the Shox on MANY occasions (see the LSU game earlier this year). He just isn't clutch from behind the arc. He is one of the teams worst three point shooters (percentage wise). He is best when he is driving to the basket and stopping and pulling up from about 10-15 feet or drawing a foul.

Yes, let's remember his great D, the Tennessee game and the LSU game, along with enough other clutch shots that a certain Billy Joel song was used in connection with his name. "Had to be a Big Shot..."
