Tattoo removal has become a bigger business the last two years. Many of these folks have to enter the job market and sometimes the person making the subjective hiring decision does not like tatoos. There are many stories of the extreme that women go to in hiding tattoos while trying to get hired. The military relaxed its rules a couple of years ago due to the need to recruit. However, most conservative cultures disdain them. I told both my boys they could get a tattoo if they wanted. I would then cut off their allowance. Worked wonders. Now, if my 25 year old son wants to get a tattoo, he can go for it. My 21 year old son can too, but it will cost him. I know I am being a narrow-mined old fogie. I do not care. Too many of these kids will limit their job opportunities because they are walking poster boards.

Clarification so I do not have to adopt any Valleytalk posters:

The "allowance" was a stipend that Ace Kid received while in college. Remember, he could not work and earn money so I provided some spending money while he was in school.

Younger son plays college basketball too and he cannot feasibly hold a part-time job. I provide some pocket change for him as long as he keeps his grades up while he is playing ball. He knows that I will cut him off if I see tattoos on his body.

My only goal was to get them through their "dumb xhit" years until they could rationally think about the decision.
