What do you guys think about this one? Does SIU relax at all after Creighton? MSU has been playing very well and really has not caught fire during the 5 game win streak (Not that I expect to do so against SIU, but anything is possible). I think the Bears sneak up and get some revenge for the first meeting. I assume we will have some fans up in Omaha for Tuesday.

That would be music to my ears TN, Do you know how much those broadcasts go for?....And yes to other posters I meant CU would root for us to get them back into contention for a regular season title, how that was confusing I dont know but the IQ in Carbondale isn't exactly through the roof......Nate Bilyeu will be available by the way, just a bad sprain so he will play according to however much pain he is in.:bears: :bears: :bears:

Sorry Ron after looking into things a little more I don't see our game as an option. Someone on letsgobears.com said they thought the game was part of the package but I sure don't see it.
The package says 30 live events for $24.95 and also has some single games for $6.95. Just click on "register" and then "available packages".
Our new website says we are going to show all home games over the net but my guess is that won't work until JQH is built.

Dear Missouri State Fans,
I know you would all really appreciate UNI to beat Creighton this upcoming week, but it won't happen. In fact, it is not even in the realm of possibilites. Combine the fact that UNI can't beat Creighton when we are good or at home, let alone when we can't throw the ball into the ocean while on a tiny canoe in the middle of the Atlantic, UNI is doomed from the beginning. But, we do appreciate the support. Good luck against SIU!
Sincerely,
UNI Fans.

At first I thought this was pretty much a no-lose game in terms of the Bears' NCAA chances, but that's just not true. Look what happened between last week's ESPN Bracketology and this week's edition. MSU wins twice, including a decent road win at UNI, and they *drop* from a nine to a ten. If your memory isn't defective, this is the same thing that happened last year...the Bears kept declining even though they were winning at the end of the year. This isn't a must-win, but it's pretty close to one. The Bears need to defend their home court and get the best win that's left on the schedule.

Vegas lines have become pretty easy to predict. They usually conform to the Sagarin predictions.
On a neutral court, Sagarin's ratings show MSU as a 0.14-point favorite. But the formula gives 4.08 points to the home team, so the Sagarin prediction would be a 4.22-point Bear victory. And since Vegas lines don't include quarter-points, the morning line of 4.5 is consistent.
For what it's worth, Pomeroy's predictions also point to a four-point MSU win, in a slow, 63-possession game. Tempo will show the way again, I think... the rout in Carbondale was a 58-possession game. Run, Bears, run!

I'm hoping that the SIU scoring prowess carries over to tonight at least to the point where they want a faster-paced game than last time. If they don't shoot as well in this one, the Bears could take advantage of that.

Typical Bears performance in a game that means something so far. Missing FTs, letting the other team control pace...all we need is a big SIU run at the beginning of the half and a furious comeback at the end that falls just short, and it'll be complete. This is the *last* *game* where the Bears can improve themselves...the rest of the regular-season games can only hurt. There is no excuse for doing this over and over again.

Thank goodness I was wrong. I didn't have a good feeling about this one. Way to go Salukis. Keep it rolling.

What a game. The Salukis showed a lot of heart playing through foul trouble and managing to hang in and get the win. The SIU guards did a great job down the stretch of knocking down their free throws to nail home the win. GO DAWGS

Congrats to SIU. You are clearly the best team in the league.
Well, Barry, there really isn't anything else to say, is there? You were given EVERY SINGLE opportunity to win this game tonight. At least six out of nine other teams in the conference probably win a game like this. You got an officiating crew willing to call fouls on SIU. You got major players for SIU out of the game. And what happened? You ran out the same tired crap that you always do. You refused to control the tempo. Your players refuse to hit free throws. You have no clue how to produce at crunch time. You're the same team you were last year, and the year before, and the year before that.
So what's the result? You've been swept by the best two teams in the league, which means you lose any tiebreakers that don't involve sweeps. You've lost three conference home games, which is ABSOLUTELY, UTTERLY, COMPLETELY unacceptable. The conference is a heck of a lot closer to a two-team league than a four-team league. You inherited a team with just about everyone back and, at best, you will finish in EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE, and if you lose to either WSU or DU you will finish WORSE than last year.
So, Barry, you have three choices.
1. Win out the rest of the regular season--yep, Barry, the three finals game are now MUST-WIN GAMES.
2. Get to the finals of the conference tourney.
3. Prepare to weep openly on national TV on Selection Sunday.

ugliest basketball game I think I've ever watched. Worst officiated game for both teams I've ever seen (but evenly bad for both). Man alive, ugly game, but SIU wins a huge road game and is one step closer to winning the conference.
I guess bring on Butler, I don't really care about the bracket buster, the conference race is much more important.
What happened to Blake Ahearn? What was his final stat line?
Very athletic team Mo. state is, I hate playing you guys and Drake....you match up the best with SIU always. Its soooo frustrating to play you guys.
The more and more I think about it, I think many, my self included over look Jamal Tatum. He is just phenomenal almost every game. I know the talk has been Falker or Funk for POY, I think you gotta throw his name in there too.

You got that wrong, you are supposed to blame the refs for NOT calling fouls on SIU in all games they play. But since it is the same old blame the ref thing I guess it doesn't make much difference.
Then again if SMS just shoots high school level free throw percentages you would have won too....

Hinson: "We deserved to win the ballgame from the effort we put out on the floor".
This is why MSU has never accomplished anything. Hinson's trying to sell me (a) defense and (b) moral victories. I just don't think he gets it, and there's no sign that he ever will get it.

give me break. What was SIU supposed to go out and tank this game just to help the rest of the league get in the dance? Sorry, there were more important things at stake than some other teams NCAA tourney bid, namely the MVC title.

WSU won the first game, so the Bears and WSU are essentially tied. Whoever wins this game will finish third. And since the game actually means something, I don't like MSU's chances.

Now the genius is talking about the importance of the twenty-win plateau. Barry, WINNING TWENTY GAMES DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING.

You're blaming SIU for your team's performance this year, or lack thereof? Wichita had plenty of chances to win games this year, but they didn't. I'd rather have 2 or 3 solid, tourny-worthy teams dancing than 4 or 5 teams in with three of them getting bounced out right away.
If we only get two in but they both make deep runs, that still carries the conference banner extremely well.

Great effort by both teams! The Bears did play well enought to win but, and I'm not a Barry basher, Barry lost this one for ya. Start another streak Bears and your in the dance. I say win a couple and a couple more in the tourney and your dancing. Go Dawgs!

I think you SIU boys are a little touchy. I was referring to the fact that 1) SIU has helped our cause of finishing third and 2) SIU and CU continue to be the model of how to win in the Valley. I'm only a jerk when I refer to Evansville, the Valleys version of Baylor.

The mystery of stats.
How did the Doggies get 15 more shots than the Bars?
I can sorta reconcile the FGA, but I sure cannot get to 15.
I have changed my mind about the COY. I think Coach Lowrey gets it, hands down. He has done more with less than any other coach in the league.
When I look at the Doggie performances, I just have to say, "Wow."
Tatum, Young and Shaw went 6-32 and the Doggies still won. Only 18.8%.
Tatum, Young, Shaw and Mullins went 8-38 and the Doggies still won. Mullins raised the percentage to 21.1%.
The Doggies had another dismal performance by the bench - 4 points in 66 minutes of play. Also, the bench had 10 personal fouls, 6 turnovers, 6 rebounds and 1 assist.
While I have not studied all games, I suspect some other game stats are similar to the last game, but not as poor.
On balance, everybody should admire the job Coach Lowrey has done.
However, I must say, I don't think the Final Four is in the cards as the Doggie Lawyer has stated.
