View Full Version : Blueblood - Our Bet
Congrats. It appears that you are going to win our bet. Creighton averaged 15,900 this year. It looks like MU will average 15,350-15,400. We are at about 15,200 with one sold out game left on Saturday (around 19,000). On the bright side, MU will have drawn about 90,000 more fans than Creighton since we had 6 more home games. While those extra home games are great for funding the athletic department, UMBC, Oakland, etc over Christmas break really dragged down the average. Anyway, I owe you a t-shirt, I think. PM me and let me know what kind of shirt you want, your address and the size. I am probably going to the NCAA's if MU stops losing games. If aren't planning on going, I can pick you a shirt from MU's site. Let me know.

You should have bet him on a basis of net revenue. You would have won by a landslide.

A man that pays his debts is a man that can be respected. I prefer to trade the shirt for a home and home. But I don't see that in the near future. I will PM you. Good Luck in the big show, there was one bracket that had us playing each other in the 8/9 game. If that happens we could bet again.

Oh Boy...While we are at it, let's debate the following -
The refs in the Missouri Valley Suck.
SIU/Wichita State/Creighton is fading into the abyss/has peaked.
Wichita State like home NIT games more than NCAA tournament games.
Drake Sucks.
Fire Barry.
Fire Waltman.
My penis is bigger than yours.
Omaha is a better city than Wichita.
Let's expand the conference.
Let's kick Evansville out of the conference.
Cold is an idiot.
The  is the best emoticon.
Southern Illinois fouls on every possesion.
Billy Packer is a douchebag.
Wichita is a better city than Omaha.
How can you leave Des Moines out of the best city debate?
Let's move the tournament to KC.
Also, any wildcard entries should be considered. Have a great day...

It would be an interesting matchup. Always willing to make a friendly wager. Good luck in you conference tourney. Although, as a Drake alum, I am still hoping for a miracle. After all, we did beat Iowa and Iowa State this year. Anything can happen.

Actually if that is the match-up, Wright St would probably be doing the hosting. I don't know whether they own their own arena or not...

That's an idea but would be a tough sell considering WSU's recent success and the brevity of MT's career at WSU. A better idea might be:
ONE-AND-DONE IN OMAHA -A Tribute to Dana Altman
Here you have a journeyman of a coach who nearly got flushed at K-State then "revives" his career at Podunk U yet eventually dissolves into a universe of mediocrity over the next 13 SEASONS! Sounds like an interesting storyline with climatic moments surrounding the ouster at K-State, disappointment during the Korver era, and multiple season-salvaging 3-day rallies in St. Louis. It would have to be a two-part feature though because 13 years is too much mediocrity to be documented and condensed in a standard two and a half hour production.

To what WSU recent success are you referring? The 4 NIT's in 5 years (assuming WSU makes the NIT this year)?

I'll take "Two things DA has never done at CU in 13 years" for 300 Alex.

1. What is get a sorority girl pregnant and what is get his team put on probation.
You are really stretching now Cold - I'll try to answer
1.We all know Turg had his hot weekend in the NCAA tournament and won a single game more than Altman did in his first 7 years.
2.What else has he accomplished? I might be missing something, but I can't remember anything else that he has accomplished that Dana hasn't
If you consider 1 fluke season sandwiched between meltdowns and 4 NIT's as true success and Altman's accomplishments at CU as "mediocrity", you enjoy "success" while we at CU enjoy "mediocrity". Considering your preference for a NIT game instead of an NCAA game, I wouldn't expect you to have a grasp on what is true success.

What Mark did was simply build a program up from scratch improving year over year over year over year over year over year season season win totals (faster than DA) with the culmination thus far being a Sweet Sixteen. In the previous season he also won the MVC championship showing that he has the ability to best all 10 Valley teams over an entire season with legitimate basketball (sorry SIU-C fans) and not just over a 3-day tournament. If we aren't able to pull a "Creighton" and auto-bid our way into the dance then MT will have made his first boo boo. Comparing our past NIT performances as our program was being rebuilt with your NIT performances which are a clear sign of program decline is apples and oranges. Dana had Korver and all the momentum in the world and he has let it dribble down his leg. So far everything MT has touched has turned to gold and he isn't through improving this program yet. Sure we might take a back-step this year but it will be our first. How many back-steps as CU taken? Always so much promise but never quite able to seal the deal... Well MT sealed the deal last year with an exclamation point! The kind of deal that DA would sell his soul for.
Considering your preference for a NIT game instead of an NCAA game, I wouldn't expect you to have a grasp on what is true success.
Considering your failure to comprehend my point about NIT vs. NCAA one-and-dones with regards to fan entertainment having two years to digest it, doesn't give me much confidence in your grasp either..
It's a great decade!

1. What is get a sorority girl pregnant and what is get his team put on probation.
At least he didn't rent her!
In Dana's first 7 years (same as Turg's current season at WSU), he took a team that was in shamples and improved CU's win totals every year (Turg didn't), leading them to 1 NIT and then 3 NCAA's (including a win over Louisville so Turg has one more win the Dana in the tourney, but was only good enough to make 1 NCAA tourney), 3 20-win seasons, a Valley regular season title, and 2 Valley tourney titles (Turg has zero). So what is the 2nd thing Turg has accomplished that Dana didn't in his first 7 years, yet alone his career at CU?
Also, CU has never had an off-year to the scale of WSU's current year. I would consider having a losing conference record and finishing 6th in the Valley as a boo-boo by Mark. Dana has't finished below 4th in the Valley since they made their first NIT a decade ago and their worst conference record during that time is 11-7.
I guess I know the 2nd thing Turg has accomplished that Dana hasn't - following up a post-season birth with a bottom half finish in the Valley.
