Jamal also was named to the all-american academic 2nd team yesterday. Not bad for a thug from Floor Burn U.

Congrats to Jamaal. This might get off topic, but I saw on Salukitalk that JT turned down an internship with the Celtics this past summer to stay and work with the team. What was he going to be doing? If basketball doesn't work out for him, what are his goals? Thathad to be a tough gig to turn down.

Tatum and Tolliver are great representatives for the Valley.
Good players AND good students.
That's how it's supposed to be, right?

He should have taken the internship. At this point, the Celtics might have signed him to a contract.

Just curious, what all do they take into consideration for these awards? Is it also based on playing time or stats? There are some higher GPA's on the second team (even a 4.0) than the first, so I would think it has to include some other criteria.

Since it's a scholar-athletes, I'd say the better the scholar and the better the athlete gives you a boost.

I'm pretty sure goPanthers meant something like, How are these scholar attributes and athlete attributes measured and weighed in to the decision?
Can anyone clarify?
