Can some one please explain why SIU the #1 seed has to play the winner of the Drake V. Evansville game, instead of the winner of the ISU red V ISU Blue game?

Typically the #1 seed is paired up with the lowest seed, which would come from the ISU V ISU game.

In the same fashion, shouldn't the play in game be #7 V #10 and #8 V #9?

Which would be Drake V. ISU Blue and Evansville V. ISU red.

It's not a huge deal I suppose, but it seems against the norm of typical tourney format.

Drake and Evansville is the 8 and 9 game.

Illinois St is #7 seed, they won it by the tiebreaker forumla and they play #10 Indiana State. Its a regular setup.

Um...the play in games already are 7 vs. 10 and 8 vs. 9...

Based on the tiebreakers (since there was a three-way tie for 7th)

Illinois State (7) vs. Indiana State (10)
Evansville (8) vs. Drake (9)

The 2 seed play the 7-10 winner, because "in theory" the 7 seed should win.

The 1 seed plays the 8-9 winner because, "in theory" the 8 seed should win.

Thus
1-8
2-7
3-6
4-5

Huh? It's the normal format for everything. Evansville vs. Drake is the 8-9 game, and we play the winner of that game. Not sure what you're confused about.

my bad, didn't realize how the tie breaker worked, just looked at the standing on MVC.org and thought that was the final seeding. sorry.

so lets say #10 indiana State wins on thursday, why doesn't the MVC feed them to the #1 seed instead of #8 and #9 which is already set in stone. Why do they pre-determine where the winners from thursday will go.

look, of any website, I would have thought MVC.org would have the final standing listed in order of the tie break scenario...apperently not.

This has always been the way the Valley and every other tournament in this situation does it. I would think it benefits SIU slightly more this way so SIU only has to prepare for 2 teams instead of a possible 3. Let's face it 7-10 are all there because they had bad seasons. Any of those 4 teams should be heavy underdogs to the #1 seed. This is how they do it. Maybe you should write a letter to Dougie on this one Dawgie.

ill see what i can do about that letter.

It is easier to prepare for 2 teams rather than 3...I just like keeping tourneys where the lowest seeds always have to play the highest seeds, but like you said its not that huge of deal. If SIU is as good as I think they are, it shouldn't matter if they play a #8 seed or a #10 seed.

It simple. You are kind enough to set the schedule as far in advance as possible. Once a team knows its seed, they know what time they will be playing all 3 (or 4) days. Also, the winner of the second game Thursday shouldn't have to play first on Friday. That would mean the winner of the first game Thursday got a significant amound of extra rest. Same goes for games played the rest of the way. Notice the 1/8 and 4/5 games are in the first session Friday, and the winners play the first game Saturday. The 2/7 and 3/6 games are in the second session Friday, and the winners play the second game Saturday.

Maybe we should just reseed the NCAA's after each round as well. Same difference. Upsets happen.
