The past week clearly shows the disadavantage that Valley teams have in playing more conference games. Without playing at all since last Saturday , the Valley has passed the big 12 and the Big East, because they have continued playing conference games and losing half of them. Of course, that could change back as soon as the conference tournament starts.

We only have 9 tourney games......the big 12 and other 12 team leagues have at least 11.....
I believe the big least has 15.
So we will continue to rise

Sometime in the past few days realtimerpi.com's data has gotten messed up. Notre Dame is #34 in the current RPI but for some reason realtimerpi has them all the way down at #57. Right now realtimerpi should not be used for any factual information.
www.kenpom.com (free) or www.collegerpi.com ($20 membership) both have the correct RPI.
The Missouri Valley is currently 6th in Conference RPI ahead of the Big 12 but BEHIND the Big East.

I am a little disappointed in the RPI this year, it has always been a good gauge for rating an unknown opponent. The changes made have really got things screwy now, not very reliable in my mind.
I will say this, the Big East is way down this year from last year. UConn had fallen to the NIT after being brutal last year. Cincinatti is no longer a factor. Villanova has struggled. The list goes on and on. Louisville is better, Notre Dame is better, Georgetown is better, Pitt is better but the rest are stable to worse and your talking 12 teams. The good news is that we're all young for the most part, the bad news is that everybody is back next year and it's gonna be rough to win in conference.

The MVC has also improved in Kenpom and WarrenNolan rpi, just not enough to overtake the Big East yet.

The Valley is ahead of the big 12 and the Big East on realtimerpi again. since the Valley is done it should stay this way until the tournament starts. the Valley is 5th.

opponents are still playing, opponents opponents are still playing, everyone's rpi changes daily.

Other conferences are still playing...and losing 50% of their games. Virtually impossible to catch the Valley.

I agree with Drakey. Although getreal4 is right that our opponents are playing and so on, a team can only lose one game. Usually for a huge rpi drop this late, a single team has to lose 3 or more games. A single loss hardly impacts the rpi, especially the rpi of a conference. Getreal4 must be lacking in the head if he thinks the Valley could drop.
Go :valley:

This is good for the Bears AND the Braves. Should the MVC be able to secure 5th in the overall CRPI, BU would almost be assured a bid. No team from a top 5 conference with 20 DI wins has ever been left out. If we get ANY credit at all for JC's injury, that would ALMOST assure us a bid. The numbers are there, no matter where you look. Some may point to our top 50 record, but it compares with all of the other bubble teams. Our road record makes up for that somewhat as well, as does the injury. But, of course, MSU found a way to make history last year, so I am not guaranteeing anything. We very well could be joining them on the all-time screwjob list.

Until the NCAA selection committee changes that...I sure hope they don't, I want to see 4 Valley teams in again, but I could see the NCAA screwing us.

I dont think the committee uses RealtimeRPI so I think it will stand for another year.
