So this Thread may get moved, but I'll give it a shot anyways:

Valley talk reminds of a college Frat. We have all kinds of different guys, some of us like each other, others of us don't, but we all have one thing in common that brings us together, Valley basketball.

Despite how some of us truly rip on each other and plain don't like one another, its seems to me if we were out in public having a good time and some one from the ACC frat wanted to start a fight, I'd actually throw a punch to help ColdBlooded out. Make sense?

I thought it was an interesting insight. We need some Greek letters for our MVC Frat.......

Not that I really care anymore but……I was taught to never use the word, if it is indeed a word: "Frat". Please utilize the actual word – fraternity. Thank you.

P.S. DawgieStyle – I just don't know what to make of you.

I had a stupid frat boy once tell me....

Dont call it a frat because its a fraternity and you would not call your country a CU**.

I told him he was an idiot and I was ashamed we were from the same country.

FRAT FRAT FRAT FRAT FRAT

Please don't use P.S., spell it out. If I can't call a fraternity a frat, or a frat person a cu**, then please spell out post script.

Thanks

I think the lack of a positive response to your suggestion dawgiestyle is that you are one of the perceived "buttholes" on VT.

That may be the best post I've seen by DS. I like the idea and will give it some thought. I agree 100% with your comment about comparing VT to a Fraternity. The Fraternity taught me that you have an assortment of personalities to deal with on a daily basis. I’m reminded of a couple of lines from Toby Keith’s hit song “I Love This Bar.”

“We got winners, we got losers
Chain smokers and boozers”

We had Hippies, Democrats, Republicans, Queers, Straights, Pot Smokers, Gigolo’s and people like ColdBlooded (there’s one in every crowd)... and yes, I would still defend a Fraternity brother to the bitter end.

I've owned my own business for over 25 years and at one time managed over 185 employees. Many times I’ve publicly stated that a major reason for my success is a direct result of having to deal with a bunch of jackass Fraternity brothers. This isn't a slam on those who chose not to join a Fraternity. For those who did, you know what I’m talking about.

P.S. FWIW... it's a Fraternity and not a Frat.

I always used to call my fraternity a frat. BUT.... when I said it, i said it with a period afterwards so it would be an abbreviation....
like...
frat.

not...
frat

dawgie didn't have a period after his

oh wait, he did

why is there a big deal about this again?

Good analogy. I was never in a fraternity because I was too busy with school and being in real estate full time out of high school but I get the point. I'd throw down for any of you guys if we were out and some Big 10 (or other conference affiliation fans) started some ***** with any of you. I didn't realize there were differences within a fraternity however but I guess that makes sense.

i was in FRAT......and you don't get 50-60 guys together with out having some differences. The main thing about a FRAT, is that you share one set of common goals, ideals, or principles that binds you together despite all your other problems and differences.

For VT its the love of MVC basketball and the hate of Maryland.....and Gary Wiliams.

For the record, I didn't mean to start problems or ruin your thread DawgieStyle by mentioning the Frat vs. Fraternity issue - although I should have anticipated the response. That is all I am going to say on that subject. As a member of a fraternity, I concur with previous posts in that it did help prepare me for life after college and enhanced my collegiate experience. Contrary to popular opinion, fraternities attract people from all walks of life – that is what makes a good fraternity.

As to your analogy, I tend to agree – as I often find myself defending individual Valley teams and the MVC as whole quite a bit here on the East Coast. But that is about it – I am not going to "throw down" if confronted by some ACC, Big 10, etc. basketball bandwagoners in a bar. I guess I'll just have to settle for kicking their butts in the office pool.

With regard to MVC basketball in general and a deep seeded hatred for Mr. Williams – I couldn't agree more.

As for Greek letters – I think you should be the one to figure that out – as you seem to be the founding member of your VT fraternity.

some of the guys in the house i was in would say that a lot, my response was always "that's frat-tastic"

But yeah, in a fight, i'd defend anyone of 'em, even if i did have to kick their a** afterwards for starting it.

What house were you in? As far as the letters go Lower case NU is a V and lower case Tau is a T or you could do. MVC would not work. Nu Tau?

I'm no Greek scholar, but I believe the Greek analog to MVC would be Mu Beta Kappa.

However, I'm thinking Lambda Lambda Lambda might be more appropriate for this bunch.
