I'm seriously not trying to provoke or anything, but I'm really curious as to what caused the implosion of Shocker hoops this year? I was pretty excited when they reached #9 and, even though I'm a Redbird, am pretty disappointed that they have fallen so far.

I really haven't seen anything on VT dedicated to what caused the demise, and I'm curious what Shocker fans think.

The Canada trip. The same trip that almost cost Tyler Mckinney his eye. The Jays have never quite been the same since!!!

Jamar,

What's Ogirri's and Couisnard's status for the tourney? I know they have both been beat up a bit lately. Couldn't find anything in the Wichita News, and was unsure if you knew or anyone on your boards had discussed it.

Thanks.

I haven't heard much recently, but what I do know is that Ogirri sprained his ankle badly in practice before the Drake game and sat that game out on the bench with crutches. He has played some since, but not a lot because his defense has been very poor. He just hasn't been able to cut hard. Hopefully this week off has helped quite a bit.

Couisnard dislocated his thumb way back in January and has played with it in a soft cast ever since. He doesn't take as many jumpers as he used to, but he is still a workhorse. It will not heal that much in the short term, so look for his status to remain the same the rest of the year.

Braeuer's concussion was a month ago, and although he has been back for several games now, I'm not sure if he is 100% or not. Probably 90%+, so close enough I guess.

Let's not enough talk about Freshmen J.T. Durley and Chris Brown. We really could have used them this year if they had been healthy, especially Durley and his 6'8", 240lb body.

Those guys wouldve given you a good lift inside this year. Will they be back next year?

I think the number of votes for COY that Turdgeon received is a fair illustration of the problems at WSU.

JT is a Freshman, and the injury pretty much made this his redshirt year. He hurt his foot, I believe, then, as he was able to practice again, he overcompensated for the foot and hurt his knee on his opposite leg. Through it all, he wasn't able to exercise much and was just too out of shape to ever contribute even if he did get healthy.

The word is, though, that JT is a very talented player and will be a force in the Valley in a few years.

Chris brown is a Freshman too, although he played in 2 or 3 games. They'll probably request a medical redshirt for this year at a later date, although there's some discussion on Shockernet that his back problems might be more severe than originally thought. He hasn't responded to the steroid injections like someone normally would be expected to, and has practiced wearing a back brace for the remainder of the season.

Of the two, JT's injury hurt us most, as he was expected to get quite a few minutes in the paint, especially by season's end. Brown's injury doesn't help either, especially during practices.
