Don't you think that they can let the team finish the season before they announce this, or have some school official say something, "off the record." I'm all for a change, but let the team play the tournament.

They are "officially" waiting until Monday. Royce told the team on Tuesday.

Yes, and what happens if the Sycamores win the tournament? That would be a collasal embarrassment for the administration!

I agree. Why would you announce something like this when the team still has games left to play? My only thought would be that the players would play harder to do it for the coach. That kind of thing doesn't really work though. Puzzling move.

Trees have little chance to play with the Jays tonight. Jays lose and they're bubbling, Jays win and they are lock status. Lansing will slowly build the Trees back to respectability. :innocent:

I was shocked that they did not say something about this during the game.

Who is better with Indiana ties? I mean ISU should be an attractive program, because of the league it plays in and the ability to recruit JUCOs on the quick fix.

If ISU can get a couple of assitants with connections to Chicago and Memphis would be good as well.
How bad has it gotten for ISU hoops?
The Indy Star, which rarely has anything about ISU in its sports pages the last several years, is saying ISU coach 'Walton' got fired on its front website page. Pretty bad then the only paper in your major market doesn't even know your coaches name.

The article says Waltman
Let me repeat myself for the slow...
THE FRONT WEBSITE PAGE.
It's probably only right in the article because they did not have a reporter in St. Louis and had to use a wire service story.
Again... THE FRONT WEBSITE PAGE (look on the right side before they change it)
Here's the same link.

Even readers of the Star's website are blasting the paper on it's own message board for getting the coach's name wrong.

I am not a member of the athletic department, but I keep my ears open, and I know a LOT of people at ISU. I just have heard some things, from multiple people who ARE connected with the AD, and I have a pretty good idea that the person that RP hires will shock most people.
Just because I won't name the names I have heard, doesn't mean I don't know anything. I could care less if you think I know anything at all, but I am very concerned that we hire someone who can take us to the next level. Someone who inspires confidence in our team, and our fanbase. RP is moving in that direction, and I think the results will make people stop questioning our committment to our program.
That said, just don't be surprised if the new coach is NOT Greg Lansing. I will tell you that he wants the job. But he cannot compete with the other names I've heard bandied about. Hence, my use of :innocent: Too many people think that's a done deal. That is NOT a done deal.
I just hope that RP follows through with the type of search I think he's got in mind. With the revelation I heard today that we're getting a new president, that might actually free up RP's hands a bit.
Anyway, I could still end up being totally wrong. I'm just pretty darned sure that I'm not...

Nothing says someone will be a successful coach in the MVC more than hiring someone who couldn't succeed at a lower level. If that's the real hire, InSU might as well make their play-in round reservations for another few years now.
