I made a Mo. State Bears forum you can talk at if you don't like letsgobears.
www.mangossip.com
look under sports > NCAA Sports Teams > Missouri State Bears
It has a bunch of different forums, I thought it would be a good idea to make a site that has a forum for pretty much every topic guys would want to talk about.
I just finished getting most of the forums put on there today, so there are only a handful of accounts open right now, but hopefully it will grow pretty fast if people start posting on it.

You Bear Fans are nuts when it comes to your coach. You just had back to back 22 win season. If SLU doesn't screw you with the clclock you have 23. The NCAA snubs the MVC and all non-BCS conferences and this is Barry's fault. I know, I know, Old Helmet Head took you the dance. He didn't take Iowa this year. :bears: :bulldogs: Missouri State would have killed the Hawkeyes (and the love of your lives, Stevie Boy) this season. There is no reason Coach Hinson shouldn't be back

Some of you more extreme Bear fans should appreciate what you have. The situation is bound to be even brighter with a new arena, good nucleus of players coming back, promising recruits coming in.....etc...........
But instead you're obsessed with making a coaching change.

Anymore, whenever I think about MSU fans, I can only picture one person: Veruca Salt.

I'm contemplating using this picture in my sig line, but I think it just might be considered "instigating."

That's what I've been trying to tell these people for the last couple of months now!

I have yet to hear a good explanation from a Bear's fan as to why they want Barry gone. The guy wins 20 games almost every year, he gets to the postseason, he brings in good kids who don't get in trouble off the court, and he is a class act in everything he does. I just don't understand it.

are you kidding me? i have seen countless posts on here... the barry supporters only bring the arguements you just stated... the people who wanted change have listed, at amazing length, the problems with the current situation.... A lot of coached bring in good kids... a lot of coaches win 20 games (118 this year).
If a guy promises me he is going to do something, then 8 years later he hasnt done it, i have lost all faith in that person.

Who would you replace him with?
Meaningless question.
Look, there are lots of good reasons on both sides to do whatever. In *this* situation with him rehired, I think he needs an extension. If he had been let go, I was OK with that, too. But anyone who thinks there is only one side to this at this point is just wrong. I was wrong about it at one point. I got over it.

I think Barry reminds of what Mark Turgeon was before WSU's Sweet 16:
a) He couldn't win the game
b) He couldn't get over the hump into the NCAA's
c) He couldn't consistently beat CU & SIU
All it took was one run and all of those doubts are gone. MSU fans just need to be patient, you will eventually get your turn in the spotlight. The MVC is becoming a conference that demands excellence from top to bottom and the MSU situation is the best example of that.
It's good to demand excellence, but be realistic and keep things in perspective.
Mark didnt take more then 8 years. Let me ask you this, if Dana was to take CU to 20+ wins for the next 8 years, graduate his players, keep his players out of trouble, but not once make it to the Dance, would you keep him around for the 9th year? Would you get rid of him in the 3rd-4th year of the 8 year stretch?

With all due respect....you can't compare your program 8 yrs ago to Creighton now....Creighton has went to NCAA, something like 7 of last 9 yrs. MSU, 8 years ago, had been twice in like 7 yrs.

No Charlie spoiled us ! At least Stevie Boy did'nt blow every "must win" plus he did not let Stetson (number 302 out of 303) beat us one year in our house !

Hey DA at least gets you to the real tournament a lot of years.

Beery loses every must win game. Year after year, after year. Plus the Steson "Hatters" beat.

You're right... there's absolutely no comparison between Creighton in Altman's first 8 years, and MSU in Barry's first 8 years.

I guess I don't understand what your saying here ! 7 of 9 years + an NIT at least 1 years versus none of 8 years. Ok it was Gieco that made me bitter ! Should have undersood sooner !

Barry is 3-14 against SIU/CU in games decided by less than five points, and 26-39 in total games decided be less than five points.
Barry has lost 29 home games in eight seasons.
There are many, many more reasons, but I'm too pissed and tired to type all of them right now.
Oh yeah, MoValleyJohn, those guys in the green hair remind me of a basketball coach at Missouri State....height-wise anyway.

Well Beery will be busy starting tomorrow to figure out how to schedule and jack with his RPI so that he can whine again next year and say that for 4 years he has had a resume that should get into the dance. Then he will get into the NRAT (Not Really A Tournament) and get beat again. Groundhog Day, Deja Vu.

Id give up a 22 win season for a 17 win season and a Valley tourney championship and a berth....
8 years is a long, long time...

What is it about MSU that makes it a school that should consistently be in the NCAA tournament? Are the facilities far superior to other Valley schools? Is Springfield more appealing to recruits than other Valley cities? Does MSU have some tradition that is superior to other schools in the conference? Is MSU superior academically or in some other way to othe Valley schools? Is MSU located in a hotbed of talent?
Just as an example, how does MSU stack up against WSU in those categories? I would suggest far behind in every case. WSU has been to the NCAA tournament once during Hinson's tenure at MSU. I'm guessing without checking that MSU has won more games than WSU during that period. I could make the same comparison with every other team in the Valley, and I'm not sure I would think MSU has any big advantage over most schools in the Valley as far as the ability to field a winning basketball program. Last year MSU got the biggest screwjob in NCAA history. Do you think that is because of Barry? Seriously, it might be, but I don't know. Do the people on the selection comittee dislike him so much that they won't giveMSU an at large bid?

We didn't get screwed last year... we had 1 good thing out of many that they look at... the RPI, we had no big wins, and stunk it up in the Valley tourny.... i wouldnt have given us a bid either.
