Did Mark set his team up for failure by kicking 6'9" 230lb transfer Keith Wooden off the team last summer? It seems that Mr. Wooden wasn't going to be dedicated to the classroom, so out he went.
Sure would've been nice to have that this season.
BTW, Wooden just led his N. Texas team against Memphis with 10 points in the first half.

Really? Is winning that important to WSU? Obviously not. Turg knows what's important. There is a difference between second chances like SIU took on Rolen Roberts and letting a kid get by with bad grades. The bad grades and not going to classes are only going to hurt the team. They are STUDENT-athletes. The student comes first.

There are plenty of good to great players out there who also want to go to class and get a degree. Many of the coaches in the valley have proven this. Wooden was told by Turgeon that he needed to work on his academics and if he got them in order there was a spot for him. He chose not to take advantage of that opportunity, so he lost out on the scholarship. BTW, Wooden averaged 9 points and 5.5 rebounds in the Sun-Belt conference this season, so I don't think he would have been the savior the Shox were looking for this year.

As the team without someone with a DUI, I don't think we'll be taking the "sold our sole to the win" speech, thank you very much.
