SIU leads 3-2, a little more than 3 minutes in.

Sounds like good crowd support on the tube. Can hear all sorts of SIU,SIU, SIU chants.

4 minutes into the game and all we have scored is 5 total points... SIU 3, VaTech 2

The poke in the eye could tick off Falker, which is a good thing. He needs to be aggressive.

Falker got jacked in the eye thats all we need

Starting off alot better today then you did Friday. That is a good thing. Freaking pissed though, we get stuck watching UNLV vs Wisconsin but I cant get it on MMOD either because it says it is our local game. ***?

That is the same deal for me in Indiana with the Purdue game. I found that if you click in as soon as they post the game's "Watch Now" button, then you can get it. But if you wait until the game actually starts, then it is too late.

Clemmons needs to be big today. Great rebound.

Pace has picked up some. SIU 10, VaTech 8 with just under 12 to go in the first half.

Dawgs looking real bad on offense. Too many really bad turn overs!

Tatum just dropped a LONG 3 and is pumped. Hopefully he can get on one of his streaks and light up the hoakies!

Tatum with an NBA 3!!! The Dawgs lead by 4.

those announcers are right, the player of the year in the mvc just showed UP! go siu!

I'd guess if SIU gets to 60 they win.

that would have been a killer shot had it gone at the buzzer, SIU by 8

love the non stop chanting of S-I-U

We like to say the first team to 50 wins the game. That has been the Salukis mantra most of the year. They lead at the half by 8, 28-20.

Not a bad first half, with SIU winning because they are dictating pace and keeping it a half court game. No excuse to lose from here.

This is a great pace for a Saluki win.

Not sure if anyone mentioned that one of the VT coaches, Palmore, was an Assistant at UE for one year. He is the black guy with the bald head.

Anyone watching this on mmod? This half time show is retarded!

Not a bad lead. Va Tech will cut it at some point because there is no way the hot shooting will continue for Tatum, but if SIU can take it to the wire close, I like their chances. At least they have the tempo of the game at their pace, and Falker is involved and not in foul trouble. I would like to take these referees with us all the way to the final four. Lowrey has to be giddy when he saw the same refs on the floor for this game too.

Listening to the MMOD halftime show, and what an insult. "Their doing this to an ACC team." "SIU is beating an ACC team." "ACC team." "ACC team." Did it ever occur to anyone in the country outside the Midwest that SIU might just be BETTER than the ACC team?

Do they realize that SIU beat "the ACC team" earlier this year?

ISU87
03-18-2007, 04:23 PM
and after SIU disposes of this "ACC team" in about 20 min, there will be only ONE "ACC team" in the sweet 16, and ONE MVC team.

ACC = overrated

Do they realize that SIU beat "the ACC team" earlier this year?

Pretty sure they missed that stat. They were only concerned with the speed of SIU for some reason.

Mullins ... what the?...we'll take it!

Fouls are starting to pile up for the dawgs. But, mostly bench players. Double bonus for the Hokies soon.

I hate the way cbs goes to other games, I dont care about wisky losing, i want to watch the MVC team beat the ACC team!! If they are gonna broadcast the wisky game then they need to lift the local blackout on mmod.

I'm watching the webcast as the CBS station in Des Moines is carrying the Wisconsin game. Clearest and best webcast I've ever seen. Go Salukis! :salukis:

There are as many MVC teams left as there are ACC and Big Eleven teams.

Hey Dawgie Style,

Not sure you should talk trash to anyone about an Abyss.

Should Coach Lowry keep his job?

hey ace dad, cool it...we should all be happy. I wasn't talking trash, just simply reminding certain individuals that SIU isn't going anywhere...

Lowery should keep his job....question is will he still want it? If Michigan offers, hard pressed to turn that gig down.

I was going to ask who you would rather have, UK or KU but I guess we are seeing who you are going to get as we speak.

The killer thing about making it to the Sweet 16 is that Lowery is now for sure the #1 man on every list for a new coach. One thing I have to ask is after watching Purdue and Illinois this year and the past few years; why has Weber and Painter changed from their SIU style of basketball? They dont put on the pressure like SIU does and you would think it would be alot easier for them to do so being able to pull in big time athletes that they can.

A few tidbits from the AP article - this guy gets it:

'This win was due to defense -- which is nothing new for kids who must buy into the concept that defense wins games or else you might want to find another place to play.

"We play so hard in practice that when we go against other teams it's almost easier," guard Bryan Mullins said.'

[snip]

'"They are a strong defensive team," Washington said. "We couldn't get any easy buckets to get us going. It was frustrating."

In practice, the Salukis play a game with no fouls and no out of bounds that coach Chris Lowery calls "Keep Playing." There's no whining, which develops toughness.

"That's how we teach them, just to play no matter the circumstance," Lowery said.'

[snip]

'SIU's fans chanted "De-fense! De-fense!" and the Salukis -- third in the nation allowing 56.3 points a game -- responded during a 16-2 run bridging the halves. Forget flashy dunks or no-look passes, the spurt was built on man-to-man defense and a couple of timely shots. The crowd cheered louder after defensive stops than after baskets.'

[snip]

'The biggest cheer of the second half from SIU fans came when Tatum put up a shot with a second left on the shot clock -- and then got his own rebound. At many schools, those moments are ignored.'
