I always think it's interesting to see how each conference is doing along the way. Below is a breakdown of the Sweet 16 Teams/Conferences:

ACC: 1 team (7 bids - 14%) (North Carolina)

Pac-10: 3 teams (6 bids - 50%) (Oregon, UCLA, USC)
Big 10: 1 team (6 bids - 16%) (Ohio State)
Big East: 2 teams (6 bids - 33%) (Pittsburgh, Georgetown)

SEC: 3 teams (5 bids - 60%) (Florida, Vanderbilt, Tennessee)

Big 12: 2 teams (4 bids - 50%) (Kansas, Texas A&M)

MVC: 1 team (2 bids - 50%) (SIU)
Horizon: 1 team (2 bids - 50%) (Butler)
MWC: 1 team (2 bids - 50%) (UNLV)

C-USA: 1 team (1 bid - 100%) (Memphis)

Purple .. you beat me to it.

I was just preparing to transcribe the notes from my bracket ...

Was just listening to Digger prattle about his new favorite teams ... Kansas, Florida, Georgetown, gag

Your stats prove that only a few (one) from the mighty ACC and Big 11 are worthy.

How about matching up the top 128 RPI teams for a qualification round ... the top 64 team go to tournament. The best of the rest play another play-in round to qualify for the NIT .. period.

You might be surprised how many MVC teams would be in the NCAAs.

Two more things about a qualification round:

1. You get rid of the rigged selection committee

2. Teams would have to come up with a tougher OOC schedule .. this means an opportunity for "so-called" mids to get better home-and-home matchups because the "bigs" would need to improve their own RPIs (no more Dec. home schedules for the "bigs" consisting of cupcakes)

If you would have told me 5 years ago that in 2007, the Horizon League would get more bids than the C-USA, I would have died laughing. Wasn't that the year they got 8 teams in?
