No he won't.
He's an amateur.
An important rule of journalism is to keep yourself and your feelings out of the story. I know blogs stretch the boundaries a bit but I felt like I was reading the work of a high-schooler.
Sorry.

Why did I just read that blog? What a waste of bandwidtht and more importantly, people's time.

To save everyone else the pain, here is a summation of the blog:
ISU is interviewing prospective coaches, they will continue to do so through next week. I know the names of some of the guys that interviewed, but I won't tell. The guy they hire might not be a big name, but an up and coming guy. I have my favorite, but I won't tell. Next week I'll have more information that I won't tell. Please keep reading.

He wowed me with all his insight, I can't wait for him to be on ESPN.

Didn't you ever say "let's just do it one time, nobody will ever know & I promise not to tell"? I'm not making comments about this writer's ability based on this one story, but on all of his articles and, what is wrong with what he says? He is not falling in the rumor trap and plans to cover the Sycamores for awhile. I think his approach is pretty damned sharp! Unlike some of the sports writers "hollywood columns" that get printed regularly without any facts, correct spelling of names, or having ever seen the individual or team they write about.

my guess, the person who made this thread is that writer. and the person who left the comment on the internet story is his dad.

anyhow, good luck with ray mccallum.

It's not an article, it's a blog item. There's a difference. Blogs are usually pretty informal pieces, that entry is pretty much par for the course. Had that run in a paper, it would have been different.

As far as keeping personal feelings out, blogs don't work that way. Ever read Peter King? He writes about all kinds of personal stuff that has nothing to do with his footabll stuff. He's one of many.

And no, that entry isn't going to get anyone in at ESPN. But I think the writer just wanted to get some sort of brief update, even if it didn't say that much. Nothing wrong with that.

So it was an update with no information??? Isn't that kind of pointless?

The longer this search goes, the more I get the feeling that we're going to hire Greg Lansing as our new coach. Not a head turning hire, but it would be a solid one for sure. Great recruiter, lots of desire, learned X's and O's from the best. Here's what McBulldog had to say about him:

Greg Lansing was the head coach at Roosevelt HS here in Des Moines back in the mid to late 90's. He was Nate Green's high school coach and though I don't know this for sure .. I think it was kind of a package deal with Nate and Greg both ending up at INSU. For those that don't know Nate Green .. he broke a few of Bird's records. He then was hired away from INSU by Iowa and the RUMORS I've heard is that he kind of stole Helmet Head's thunder to a degree and it was convienient for Helmet Head to make Greg and another asst. .. some what of the scape goats for Iowa's lack of success. Greg Lansing would make a hellva good head coach. Young. Burning Desire. High basketball IQ. Great Communicator, would kill people to win. would kill babies to win.

I don't know anything, it's just a feeling I get...
