It's really more "when" not if. Sometime, shortly after 5pm this afternoon the brackets are going to be released. Then that all important moment is going to happen when we see the first Valley team.
If you see CU in a 12-5 game, obviously Omaha will explode, but how will MSU fans react? Total exstacy because they know they are ahead of CU or crushed because deep down they really don't think 6 get in?
What if WSU happens to get a 9 or 10 seed? Does everyone get really nervous that it could end up being a 2 or 3 bid year? Other than seeing your own team on the board, what do you want to see on the board first regarding a Valley team?
I know personally that I want to see MSU as an 11 or 12 if for no other reason than to validate the change the NCAA made in the RPI. Plus I figure that means at least 5 teams get in.

Todays paper said that Turgeon had 4 valley teams in his bracket.

Florida absolutely has to be South Carolina today. If that doesn't happen, I don't think Creighton has a very realistic chance.

I really like having Mark Turgeon as a coach, but...
From what I've heard in interviews, he is probably a terrible bracketologist. The guy is the opposite of Barry Hinson. Hinson is big at promoting the Valley as a whole. Turgeon is focused on one team it seems. I don't know how many times I've heard him say he doesn't even look at the RPI or that kind of stuff during the season. He says he just wants to make sure his team takes care of business the best he can.

I think Creighton hurt its chances by falling in the first round to Bradley. Missouri State could be in the same boat. I'm still not totally sold on the Braves' chances either, but most of the bracket "experts" have them in the field. Missouri State could be the last team in according to Joe Lunardi's bracket, so they will be pulling for Florida today. Gregg Doyel has Hofstra in the field over MSU, but that's about the only difference I see between the two. I still can't believe the respect BU is getting. If it turns out they have to settle for candy cigarettes of the NIT as opposed to "close, but no cigar" in the NCAA's, I'll still take it. :braves:
Interesting to note that one week after our conference tournament, the MVC is still getting publicity, be it positive or negative. Haven't heard much about the CAA, which was getting a lot of attention last week.

CU with Dotzler 17-5
CU without Dotzler 2-4
Dotzler will be back for postseason play.
I think the committee will recognize this.

Isnt this a lot of fun? The valley is a virtual LOCK to get 4 teams in, and a solid chance to get 5. One way or another, 6 teams are going to the postseason. What a TREMENDOUS year for the valley! Enjoy the ride!:shockers:

I think Creighton is in (barely). I will be more confident if South Carolina loses today. One could justify a win by them could knock out Kentucky just as easily. Kentucky has a stronger SOS than CU, but CU is 6-6 against the top 50 and Ky. is 3-8.

I hope the Valley gets its 5 or 6 bids. That would be very cool.:shockers: :panthers: :bears: :braves: :jays:
I hate to say this, because I want Bradley and Creighton to get in, but I really don't like the "Kenyon Martin" rule where the committee takes into account injuries and suspensions when choosing teams. It just makes the whole process less clear. I'm kind of an old-school guy ... if you lose a guy to injury, it's a bad break, not a reason for the selection committee to look at your record with said guy in the lineup and base a decision on those numbers.
Bradley went 6-2 without O'Bryant. That case should be closed.
Creighton was 2-4 without Dotzler but how do we know the Blue Jays would have been better? I'm an SIU guys and some of our fans actually tried to brush off the losses to Monmouth and Alaska-Anochorage because Tony Young wasn't 100 percent after breaking his ankle late in the summer. Doesn't matter ... we still lost.
Anyway, not trying to stir up ****. The committee's job is tough enough without having to pour through 317 injury reports.
BTW, if SIU doesn't get in the field I'm going to be pissed!:salukis:

Good call, Jamar. Turgeon does not have to be THE face of the Valley, but a face of the Valley would be nice.

Let's just sit back and enjoy this day and not waste any energy ripping on each other. We can start again tomorrow.:naughty:

If Creighton's name shows on the board, it means the Valley got 6.

I am just anxious to see the first valley team listed, that will provide great insight into who and how many make it. Any 7 seed is a good thing and MSU would be another. Creighton would make me worry about MSU and possibly Bradley.

I think that the Valley will represented by 5 if S.C. loses to Florida. We should all be Gator fans. One thing that I think would be huge is for a Valley team to win the NIT along with at least one making the Sweet 16. It doesn't help if we get 5 teams in and they all lose. It would be nice to add an NIT title to our two WNIT titles. The NIT is postseason play, and it is nice to end the season on a win, especially if it means hoisting a trophy.
