One of the committe Members is on CBS right now and just said that they have the 34 at - large bids locked down. But that if South Carolina loses that would open another one up. Assuming Florida would take a bid is currently probably not good for CU. Good Luck to All.

Not really a surprise. The results have been so much to form for the past few days that there's not really much left to discuss. Only Florida/South Carolina means anything today.

It means a lot to South Carolina and one other team. The question is who is that other team.

If SC loses it would open up another bid? Does that mean they have them in? Arent they the underdogs? That means that SC and FL are both in. I would think it would have been the other way around.

It sounds to me like this is a play-in game for SC. If they lose, they are out.

You know, if Creighton doesn't make it in the NCAA Tournament that's fine...somebody has to win the NIT.
Does anyone remember 1982? Bradley was "overlooked" for the NCAA Tournament. They go on to win the NIT by beating Purdue by nine in the championship game. One of the signs a team-member held during post-game pictures said "Hey NCAA, how about us now?"
I thought it was classic. It was the second NIT champ from the MVC in two years. Tulsa beat Syracuse 86-84 in OT in 1981 for the NIT title.

But, traditionally, teams that just miss the NCAAs get their brains beat in their first NIT game. Hard to motivate a team for the Not In Tournament when they think they got jobbed.

I remember both those tourney years. Bradley won a second round game at Syracuse on their way to MSG in 1982. The 95-81 win by the Braves may have been the worst home loss Syracuse ever suffered in the Carrier Dome until Connecticut waxed them this season. In 1981, 6th seeded Syracuse won the Big East tournament on its home floor, but the Big East had not been a conference long enough to gain an automatic berth, so the Orangemen were left home!
