Saw this from a Nebraska fan on ESPN's message board directed to a thread titled, "MVC is a joke" posted by Maryland fans. Nice to see people sticking up for us:

"So Northern Iowa beating LSU in LA, as well as Iowa, Dayton and Bucknell don't make them a good team? You have to consider that other power conference schools don't consider playing MVC schools because that would require home and aways with teams that can beat them. Why do that when you can sit at home, fill the stands and pad your pockets?
Well, you now know it's because the Valley is claiming their bids, the bids you can't refute because you didn't earn them. UNI beat LSU, they beat Iowa, they beat Dayton, they beat Bucknell and if you still aren't impressed....consider that those are the teams that would play them. ACC teams don't bang down MVC teams doors to play UNI, why would they? So they can get beat and give up a big payday?

You have no explanation of why Maryland would have any success in the MVC other than, "because" or "ACC." We all know how your story played out. And you can sit on your high horse and look pathetic all you want, but you don't get the last laugh, no matter how loud or long you try.

Drink all the big conference kool-aid all you want, you might need it to stay awake during the NIT. "

I think that's a very good point. We have gone on the road to beat some teams. Some of these teams may not be good this year, but at least our schools were willing to play at their places and we were able to win many of those contests. That, coupled with the fact we had 6 teams finish at least 11-7 in the MVC, and the top 6 took some lumps against the bottom 4. If it happened in the ACC or one of the other power conferences, no one would bat an eye at the suggestion of 6 bids going to those schools. Because this has been the best Valley season from start to finish and top to bottom, I think we should be rewarded. Next year, we might only get 1 or 2 bids--who knows. The thing is, it's all based on this year, and some of the big-school prima donnas don't want to believe it's possible.
