A few points for all fans to think about
1)All things considered we the valley have had a great offseason. The deadweight was cut from the struggling schools and two of the best coaches in the league are most likely here for a few more years at least. Lowery staying and getting a huge raise and Altman coming back is a huge boost for the conference. All fans should be happy for these things as it will only help our conference.
1a)The one exception, Mark Turgeon leaving. Well I for one appreciate all the hard work Turg has done, but am not exactly sad for him to go. The current team was not buying him anymore and frankly next season was a crapshoot whether Coach T came back or not. The infusion of new blood whether it is Marshall or Sutton will only help the program and the conference. If whoever is hired keeps half the incoming class then we will at least be decent next year. Who knows the coach we bring in will maybe be better than Turg(I frankly think both Marshall or Sutton would be a step up from Coach T).
2)All this bickering about why Altman came back, who cares? He is the best coach in the league and i for one was really suprised he took the Arkansas job and very happy when he came back. And this is coming from an Arkansas fan(embarassingly both my parents graduated from there ;) ). I would have loved to see him at Arkansas, but i love the valley and WSU more than anything and was glad to see him return. Watching Gene come back to WSU was a relief as im sure it was to CU fans as well to see altman return.
3)When i first joined this board in 2002, WSU being a team that could be ranked #8 was a pipe dream. The valley getting 4 teams into the dance was maybe an even longer long shot than that. What has happened in the valley is due to the people that are in it. Not just the players and the coaches, but i think most importantly the fans. It is us who has propelled the valley to new heights in the end. Those of us who got our butts in the seats during the tough times and donated money where we could is resulting in the rebirth of the Valley of Death. I remember going to WSU games as a student in 2002-2003. For most of the games there were less than 100 students in the student section. However the most memorable moment i have in all of watching sports is not Tigers chip-in on 16 at Augusta or MJ's heroics to lead the bulls, or any one of many playoff homers or even WSU's sweet 16 run. Frankly it was a Saturday afternoon where i saw a all time valley great clank a free throw at the Kansas Coliseum. Kyle Korver and the top 10 bjs lost to an up and coming bunch from my beloved WSU. The ensuing rush of the court made the local news as well as espn, and the picture was on the front page of the paper. I like to think that that day propelled WSU as much forward towards their sweet 16 as any other moment. Im sure as valley fans you all have similar memories. That is what makes cheering for this conference and its teams special. At times your team is out of favor, but if you persevere the payoff is enourmous.
The point of all of this is that we get to caught up in the bickering over who is best, whereas we should enjoy how good we have it. We live in great midwest cities cheering for teams that are easy to cheer for. For the most part they stay out of trouble, stay four years, and graduate. While i know there have been times i have been one of the biggest offenders on this board as far as starting trouble, i also realize how fortunate i am to experience one of the greatest games, college basketball, with one of the smartest fanbases in the country. Whoever WSU gets and however far we fall into the abyss we are still your brothers, even if we are that annoying pesky little brother you loved to pick on growing up ;)

I'd agree with all of this had you only added that Jim Les is obviously the best coach in the conference and is more responsible that Turg, DA, or Lowery for the resurgence of the Valley; Carver Arena is easily the best college environment in the MVC; BU has the best recruiting class of any Valley team this decade and will DOMINATE all you other losers for the foreseeable future; and did I mention Jim Les is God? But OTHERWISE you were spot-on. :argue: :argue:

Brocks you're either insane or an idiot. All you BU fans were ready to dump the great(your words not mine) Les in Dec 05. Now he's a god? I think not?
Is he a godd coach? Maybe. We'll see after Chuck Buescher retires.

To be honest Les was not even on the radars for any of the jobs that were out there. That is not a knock on him, but that is why he wasnt mentioned in the OP. If i had to rank all the coaches in the valley based on their careers it would be
1.Altman
2.Lowery
3.Marshall
4.Les
5-9 almost everyone else
10. Hinson - With the talent he has had to have 0 NCAA trips in his career is a disgrace. If anything he has regressed the program at MSU, which is something that no other coach in the MVC can boast... What makes this a problem is that obviously Bear fans are some of the most passionate in the valley, give them a good coach and things could be far different fast in Springfield.

I think it's pretty obvious that Les is a god (or at the very least, a demi-god or True Prophet (TM)). Why else would he be blessed by the hand of divine providence?
How dare you intimate that DEAR LEADER is anything less than the full personification of the Holiest Lord God....

Well first of all, now some of you have hurt my feelings, which is unkind and contrary to the teachings of our Saviour. And to boot, I'm aghast. Here I am trying to make PEACE with you people by being REASONABLE and what do we see from you people but ghastly aspesrions cast upon me! WELL, you won't have BROCKS to kick around anymore!

Well Brocks I see no downside to your last post. You and Coach Les can just join hands and ascend to wherever those with with your twisted beliefs can attain divine introjection.

I am not sure that Lowery is a 'Here to Stay' coach. He mostly inherited his players, so his recruiting abilities are still pretty unknown at this point.

Thanks for the advice . . . I look forward indeed to being "introjected." You're just jealous because you are going to be "Left Behind" when Jim Les and I and all our Bradley kin ascend bodily into Paradise (i.e. a Bradley smackdown of Illinois State in a replica Carver Arena that just goes on for eternity). Meanwhile you'll be stuck in some Horizon League barn paying for your sins.
